Pretty Paper, Pretty Ribbon

Wrap your presents to your darling....I love that song by Willie Nelson.. I am thru with buying gifts! I have so many wonderful people in my life, I always think I have forgotten someone.  I hope they forgive me if I do. After I had my Asthma attack I am so sorry I didn't pay my sweet Momma more attention when she had hers.  Just didn't understand the ailment and I regret not feeling sorry for her more.
This is the second time in my life I have had off these 2 weeks at Christmas, without going back into school to produce a payroll or work on year end notices and reports.  I am loving that!
Tutz and I are going to eat at Veronia tonite on Lake Fork.  If you haven't tried it you should.  Italian Food, it is right next to A J's fish house.  Looking forward to it.
I get to keep the boyz tomorrow, Kharley will hve the day off (ha ha) We may make more candy or a cake or just cook, who knows. I think Susan has her g-kids we may go play with them, we will see.
Kent is off next week, he needs some time off without going to a doctor.  First year in a while he won't be going hunting with the guys.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas, spend some time with the ones you love and those that need your love. If you travel be safe and don't be in a hurry, it will be there when you get there.
Love to all and to all a good night! Nen

In the HOUSE..

Okay what's up with this weather, all summer it was so hot you could not enjoy the outside. What's after summer....Fall, beautiful fall weather....It is so cold this fall you can not enjoy the outside.  I am sick of my house. I want to be outside for just a little while without sweat or a coat, is that to much to ask for? My house should have no dust bunnies anywhere and all the closets should be organized, the floors imaculate, but is it? HAHAHAHA!!! I have Facebook and this Blog, it is a vacuum of my time. Although I don't know how I ever got to be so social before I discovered it.  I made friends the old fashioned way.  I warted them to death until they liked me!
I am tired of thinking about sickness, deaths and funerals.
I still love my husband, kid and grandkids.
I cherish my friends.
I love my life.
I appreciate all the blessings that surround me.
I have to cook Kent's supper!

Good nite to all and to all a good nite!!  love to each...Nen

I'm back

I love to NOT cook.  Clean up is a breeze for sure. Kents home, belly is full and yep the TV is ON. So I am back to the BLOG.....
I was thinking about Thanksgiving and I am going to try and have everyone here at the house again. Then the next weekend is the McKenzie Christmas....let the games begin!!!
I will be sending out the invitation to the McK Christmas soon hoping to get everyone excited about. Or try and get some enthusiasm built up, and it will I know. I just get overwhelmed once and then it is over.  I had this idea about McK Christmas presents.  I wanted to do our own cookbook.  I know the men of the McK clan will be thrilled!  I had the idea and I was going to use Snapfish and put it in an album form.  Gonna see how saavy I can get with this. OH CARLA!!??  lol.

For James and Ashley's wedding, Jeannette bought 8-10 mums for the reception, they looked so nice on this big patio at the Oaks, they also look nice on my front porch.  Thank you Nettie!

Sunday afternoon before we started cooking supper we walked down to the pool to fish. Net, Kent Sarah and me.  I catfish I do not bass fish, so at first I just knew it was going to be a pleasant outing for me just enjoying watch them catch fish and me untangled wasp nest from my reel. That is my norm.  Well just guess who caught the biggest damn bass for the day......Yep It was ME! Pure skill that is all it was pure skill.  Kent said it would go about 3 or 3.5 lbs.  Now our pools is as low as they have ever been and between all attacking the pool, the fish was just getting clobbered from all the lures coming at them. Except the one I threw in cause I know what I'm doing.  between all of us Sarah cleaned  about 10 lbs of bass to put in the freezer.  That gal can clean the fish. Kent kept the knives sharpen and she and Net had those fish filet'd in no time.
Here is the funny for you Net.....When I pulled that 10lb bass in on the bank, I carefully walking him to the stringer of fish and the weight of that fish and the water level of the pool, sucked my right leg into the muck up to my knee.  I had stepped forward and bent over to get the stringer to put that 15 lb bass with the rest of those tiny little bitty other minnows, they called fish, and thought I would drop my 20 lb bass when I couldn't get my foot out of the mud hole. Finally Sarah came over and took that 25 lbs fish out of my hand and I was able to pry my leg out of the hole.
My fish story I'll tell it the way I want to.
Kent and I walked back up to the house to start the charcoal for supper and let Sarah and Net fish for as long as they wanted to.  We were sitting on the porch and could see them dragging the fish up from the pool to the truck.  It was a pretty neat picture.  Kinda one of those Hallmark moments.
Okay it's 8;30 so I am going in there and wake Kent up so he won't miss his favorite show.  HillBilly Handfishing......oh Lord.  If you seen this, you might be a redneck.

Love to all my family and friends, until we meet again.Happy Trails.  Nen

11-1-11

Once upon a time huh, all one's get it..Waiting on Kent to get home he is back working 12 hour days, hate that but sure love the money. It will be nice here at Christmas. Oh my I said the C word, already! Wow, this year flew by. I believe we got by on less this year than any year in the past.  I took such a cut in my salary when I moved to the campus level. Almost one third of the salary I had. That cut on top of the gas prices and Kent driving so far, it has really hit home.  We don't have near the money to help Janie and the kids that we did. Since she and Jeff are now separated, she needs alot more help, than we can give. She is not doing without anything, just not any extra money for what all the kids participate in.  The kids have no clue, as it should be.
The Recycle Me Retreat is coming up this weekend, and for the life of me I can not get excited about it. The devil is working his magic on me I guess, or I am allowing him to. I need to get right, but it just seems like every weekend for the month of Oct something was happening and I had about 5 places I needed to be at the same time. Now this weekend it is starting again.  I want to help with the retreat and I want to go to the birthday/homecoming for Charles and yes it is all on the same day. I'll figure it out.
James and Ashley's wedding was precious and beautiful, I am so proud for them,  I hope the listen and will live there life as the preacher explained it.  It is all about giving and forgiving. The Oaks, is where the reception was and It is a beautifully well hidden secret of Mineola. WOW.  it was awesome. She had worked so hard on all the table decorations and planning, I hope she gets to breathe and relax for a couple of weeks. Ashley you did a great job, thanks for letting us be a part of it all.
I hear Kent coming down the road, front door is open and NO TV is on.  I love the sounds of that ole truck, we are having take out for supper, gotta go pour the tea..
later to all ...love Nen

October Already!

Wow, September was a blur..I was fixing brownies for the gkids after school today and Kentlee and Kyle both wanted to like the bowl...memories started flooding in on me.  I can remember like it was yesterday Momma fixing a cake and me and Jackie fighting over the beaters on the mixer.  I can also remember the saddest day ever.....The day Momma got a rubber spatula :(  As long as I can remember she always used a big ole tablespoon to scrap the bowl with and it always left a big amount of batter in the bowl. So I would gladly give up my beater for the bowl. Then my day was destroyed by that spatula...dammit!
I am so proud of Carla for getting back to running.  And proud Pam and Danny are settled into a neighborhood with close neighbors.  I think of both of you alot, just don't get the time to call or visit.  I miss playing Canasta with Pam and miss laughing with Carla.
Jeannette is coming in for the big wedding (James and Ashley) my nephew and bride to be, so excited. Jeannette has her house on the market, I hope it sells and she can move up here with us.  I miss not having her alot too.
Kharley got Jr. Livestock Showmanship Buckle at the Rains Co FAir.  We were so proud of her.  She sold Hank and has a little time to breath now.  Her 5th grade year is flying by, she was chosen to be a Junior Counselor at the Intermediate.  Sound little but it really is a big deal.  The principal nominated her for all the help she gave him in the bus when he had to drive her route.  Also for her maturity. Yep, she is growing up so fast.
This past weekend, the MAN CAVE crowd had a benefit skeet shoot, auction and fish fry for Charles Covey.  Charles was paralyzed on Easter 2011 from an accident while playing with his kids in the yard. So Sad!  He is the husband of Kaysi Matlock and they have 2 daughters and He has 3 sons by another lady.  So here is a man with a wife and 5 children confined to a  wheelchair with limited mobility. He has been in rehab at Dallas Baylor for several weeks and is expected to be released the first week of Nov. Kaysi surprised everyone when she drove up and had Charles with her. This was the first time he had been home since April. I cried and cried. What a surprise. What a tragidy.
I know it was all over FB but I just got to say HOW MUCH FREAKING FUN it was to perform again with the RAINETTES!! I had my doubts to start with at that first practice, then the last practice we still had not all got to practice together and I was dreading it...and then BAMM!!  It fell into place like it was 1976, all over again.  So I had gained a bunch of rolls, who the hell cares, I was having a blast and our drill team got a standing ovation!! So Proud of all of us. Thank you so much!!
It is Wednesday and Kent is at the BS session up the road, Janie cleaned my kitchen and has taken the gkids home for baths and homework, I think I will watch a little TV Harry's Law to be exact and hope to update again soon.
Good nite to all and to all a good nite......Go Rangers!!! love Nen

Labor Day 2011

The heat wave finally broke!! Yipee Skippy!! Today the cool breezes from the North is coming thru the front door and it feels wonderful.  No Rain and for that I am sad, but the cooler weather is wonderful.
Jeannette shut up about keeping this updated.  Get your own blog and you will see it is a time vacuum. I love you!!
Kent was asked to go Dove hunting with  Damn Mac..( Danny Mac) he was so excited.  He has shot  bright orange clays for so long he hopes he can recognize a real dove when it flies by.  Not sure how long he will be gone. I would guess as soon as the house is clean and all the laundry is done he will be back.  We talked last nite about all the things to do today since we were both off it was going to be a really full day and then Dmmit called. I will see how much he gets done.
The kids are all settled into school and have the routine down now.  After the first week was over, I ask Janie if I could take them to school in the mornings. They still ride the bus home in the afternoons.  This is working well.
Kharley had another pig show, Hank got second place in the heavy weight division, Oscar got first.  Both of these pigs are part of the pig family Kharley is showing with.  Rains County fair is coming up pretty soon and I look for her/him to place pretty high in the division.  She has shown him now 3 times and took 2nd place 2 out of 3 not bad for the first time to ever be around a pig. She just has a flare for it I guess.
Kentlee turns 6 on Monday 9-6-11 we had Keck as her says on Friday night, and lots of kids here to swim and play.  Pa cooked hot dogs for all and it was just fun.  Finally about 1030 everyone left.   Kentlee was exhausted, this is about 2 hours past his bedtime.  He loves his sleep.  Kyle is the ever ready bunny. Kharley had a pig show in gilmer the next day so she still had barn duty to go do. It was a fun night for sure.

The cows have been getting out looking for something green, Jack and Kent had found a spot behind the old pool where they thought they were getting out from, they got it fixed with the promise to check the rest of the fence come the weekend.  So Kent and I get the 4 wheelers and off we go into the unknown (for me anyway) The woods are so overgrown with underbrush and vines it is hard to get to the fences.  Kent said at one time you could drive the tractor down each fence line. Well not anymore! It was a tangled mess.Well I seen with my own 2 eyes this "Recovery Camp" that adjoins our property.  OMG!! it was so scary.  Kent and I was looking for a fence when we came up on it.  I never saw the men sitting out there and I was screaming at Kent What the Hell is all of this!!!???  Kent did see the men and just kept saying This Part of the Fence is good Nen, come on!  Well my 4 wheeler kept dying and if it dies in gear it is a bitch to get re started. So I was having hell trying to get thru all this brush and look at that camp and keep my ride running and when I finally got it all going again, I saw a candle just sitting on a table in the middle of that camp...That's when it dawned on me someone might be in there. So I got my shit together and started trying to catch up with Kent, by the time I got even with him it was at the opening of the wood line and cars were parked everywhere.  Kent had killed his 4 wheeler waiting on me, and thats when he asked me if I seen them men.  WHAT MEN??? He told me that is why he was saying the fence was fine to come on. The Good Lord looks after idiots...I then saw all those cars and started wondering about the number of people that was down in there.  Scarry!!
Well we found another place where the fence is totally gone.  It is on the gas pipeline that runs across the property.  As we are leaving out  I see this HUGE diesel tank on wheels...What the Hell is that!! Kent says I show you just keep following me.  Then we come up on logging equipment and machinery like I have seen on Ax Men.  We get to the big creek and cross it fine, but they have parked there equipment on the little creek and we can't get by.  Aint no way I am going back the way we came, by that Mexican recovery rehab so Kent finds a way thru more brush and vines and we make it home.  What a way to spend a Sunday!!
On the East side of our property we have the "Camp" now on the Southside we have loggers,  West side is The Neighbors (Janie's family) only leaves the North side not invaded  by anyone. Seems like our world is getting smaller.
Going to find something to do outside(on the North side)  on this Labor Day 2011.
Happy Trails to all....Nenxoxoxo

Not to be different....

That's right I don't want to be any different than any other Grandmother in the world...Today all 3 of my gkids started school.  OMG, i have reached that point I get to see them all in school and I am so blessed. Kharley 5th grade, Kentlee Kindergarten, and Kyle Pre-K and Head Start.
Kharley's day was much like the last few, nothing extremely exciting, just the pure pleasure of knowing Collin Funcheon was NOT in her class this year. She was so glad! She loves her homeroom teacher and Mrs. B seems to care for her a lot too.
Kentlee told his mom it was going to be a Rock and Roll day! Fell right into the routine like a pro.
So this is  Kyle's first day to be seperated from Kentlee for all day. Janie was a little worried about it but Kyle made it just fine.
Janie had been explaining the ropes to Kentlee about Kyle and the bus ride, that he needed to make sure Kyle was on that bus everyday and not the let the driver leave if Kyle was not with him, Kentlee knew the plan and was preparing for the worst.
Well the worst almost happened the first day of school.  Seems like the Head Start school did not get the message to PreK that Kyle would be coming over at lunch. So just because I am nosy and wanted to see the boyz in action I went over and PreK could not find Kyle.  My heart sank.  The lady in the office called Head Start and sure enough he was still over there.  One of the aides brought him over and it was all cool after that.  But I just got to thinking about Kentlee more than Kyle, what would he of done if he got on that bus and Kyle wasn't there?  Not sure exactly how the conversation would have gone but it would of been worth hearing.
They may fight like brothers but Janie has always told them no matter you take up for each other. I can just see Kentlee getting in that bus drivers face over Kyle, had he not been on that bus.  Makes me laugh thinking about the woulda shoulda coulda scenerio. Happy first day of School 2011 to my gkids!!

Well Kent has been on 12 hr days and today he got home early to hear the school stories and Jack was here waiting on him to fix fence, fix a tractor tire, and feed.  I will make no comment about this at this time. Other than supper is cold.

Had a wonderful practice this weekend at Deb's house for the homecoming routine the Rainettes will be performing.  It is going to be a blast.  If you get a chance come to the game on Sept 23 and watch a bunch of old women having the time of there youth!! you need to join us too.
Lots of seniors experienced the first of the last today.  My prayer is they all make it to graduation safe and sound.   Keeping them and the families in my heart and prayers.
Love to all and to all a good nite. Nen xoxo

Hot August Nights/Days/Hours/Minuets

Another hot one, the sconce of rain we got just seemed to make it hotter. So what else to write about: it will get cooler when it gets cooler.
I went to a funeral today. It was the first person that hired me right out of high school.  Sweet Sweet woman.  Very little family showed up. Only one son of her is left and her grandchildren. I didn't know much about her sons and daughter, just that she had 3 children and 1 son and the daughter have been gone for some time and the only son left lived in Florida.
She had many nephews and neices but only 1 showed up. It was just kinda sad that the ones that lived so close to her didn't love her enough to come to her funeral. My sweet friend (an in law to the deceased) read the euology and a beautiful poem and a grandson said a prayer at the grave site. In reality I guess that's enough, but it just made me sad. :(
Kent and I come home to help tackle Janie's yard.  She has been purging, as they say, and putting it all outside to be picked up carried off or hope it would blow away, well none of that  happened so we got a dumpster.  After 2 hours in the afternoon sun the dumpster is full and we were exhausted. It was good the kids were gone this weekend, cause I got a feeling Janie might of slipped in a favorite broken toy or twelve!
WE rested and then went for ice cream, and drove around both lakes.  Wow I wonder how they get the boats in the water. It all looks so low.  The ramps just end and no water for the boats to go into. Several boats out there, we just couldn't figure out what ramp they used.
The Rainettes will perform at homecoming this year and the practices have been exciting, to say the least.  The girls from the 70's are a little old to do the moves of the 80's so the excitment begins.  It is challenging to fit in the moves, but I think we have a routine and all we need to do is practice and make appts with the chiropractor!
Well if you hit the wrong button to correct something it just post the blog for you.  Just wish I knew what button I pushed.
The tractor is home, I know everyone missed it as much as I did.  I guess you can say this is my inheritance from my grandpa. His tractor.  Kent has been using it for some time and has been able to fix most of the things that have gone wrong, but 2 things he aint good at.  Hydrolics and porche valve (?) something to do with the stirring.  Anyway Rog and Gary Lynn to the rescue, they took excellant care of it and brought it back in great shape.  I was glad. Right now Kent is shredding dead grass and locust bushes with it.
Okay the funny for last week:
My 3K's have been home all summer. To hot to play outside so coop up in the house all day.  Weather gets cooler ( a little ) in the evening and they all go out and make a playhouse in the yard. Scrap everything used to make a total household.
I drive by and Kyle (the youngest you know Not Marbin, but Tile) is playing, he stops me and proceeds to give me the tour. Dis the libbing womb, my baroom, and da kishin.  (living room has 2 litttle tike chairs and micro phone cord which represents the phone) (bedroom has a towel on the ground) (kitchen has a step stool with 2 glasses on it) Do you really need any more than that???

Need to ck on Kent and my tractor,
Carla, be sure and Thank Dylon for me and Congrats to you! lots of love
Pam, glad you finished another work week. Tell DCC I love them.
Nettie, thanks for the shirts and tongs your the best.

Good night to all and to all a good night

Little boys stink!

Today was my first day back to work! I love being needed.  I worked so hard and was totally exhausted when I got home and took a nap.  Kent is on 12 hour shift for a while so I took advantage of the home alone time.  I hope I can finish the enrollment packets tomorrow and then have Wed. to get ready for Thur and Fri, that is enrollment days for the new kids!!
The Rainette reunion has been fun fun.  We have music and a routine, just gotta practice practice. Looking forward to homecoming this year. Also hoping the Alumni takes off and this is the year that we Rains Alumni finally makes an impact on the community.
Sunday, Kent and I cleaned our bedroom. Sounds strange huh? Dust was so thick on all the furniture you could write a letter to Merry Maids on it.  I had a scare, or I was asked if some friends of ours could use the house on Saturday for a wedding, I got in a panic and called in reinforcements.  Courtney!!!! to the rescue, she said she could come on Friday, great!!!!!! Then I got a message the wedding had been postpone. Well Bummer! I was so excited X's 2.   1 the first time the house was going to be cleaned all summer and 2 wedding at our house (honor to me that anyone would want to use our house).....then cancel :(
Why have the house cleaned if no one is going to see it right? So I called Courtney back and cancelled her, but that meant our bedroom still was going to have 6 inches of dust in there.  So Sunday Kent said he would help.  My philosiphy on dusting is if I can't see it then it is clean enough.  Kent is probably a foot and a half taller than me and see's all!  So he hit the high stuff and I got the low.  I think I sleep better in a clean room.  I will have to keep that in mind next time I can't sleep.  Make Kent dust the top of the wardrobe, so I can sleep better. During the great clean up I found my birth certificate! That would of been handy when I was trying to get that passport.  Now I know where it is so in case I have to prove to someone something I have it.
Friday my BFF took me out for my birfday!! woop woop!  I was 39 for the 14th time,  we had the best time and I didn't want the day to end.  We cured all the ills of the world. Half of which we invented, but nevertheless!
I was FB'ing when the kids came in screaming "We're staying which you nite Nen! K? Janie immediatley went to the bathroom and started getting the baths ready.  OMG!! Kentlee smelled like a dead mule! Rotten pure stink out of the hot west smell I have ever experienced. Kyle came over and he was just as bad...Then Kharley was walking on one foot and said I am taking my bath first I got pig poo on me.....I screamed at her and said share the shower with Kentlee I think I will puke if he don't give me some relief...Janie starts in Yep Kentlee you need to go first. Kyle be last.  So after all the baths were done, Kentlee came running up to me and said smell me now... Ahhhh so much better!
gonna be a fun night, I lay in my bed when they are all here and listen to them do the night talk and prayers and  then I say mine.
Thank you Lord for this family, and to all a good nite.  xoxoxox Nen

My Name not Marbin! It's Tile!!

There will be no more July 2011, it goes down in a flame of glory.  One of the hottest on record. I think about Granny Jennie and Aunt Myrtle, and wonder how they would have made it thru this kind of heat. Neither had air conditioning and never complained. Granny would only turn on the ceiling fan if she had company. On hot days you could always catch her outside in the shade of the trees.  Amazing.

Kharley and I went to WMart today and got her school supplies. This has always been my treat to her since she started school.  The Boyz were off with their Dad so I jumped at the opportunity to have her by myself.  I also jumped when the bill rang up at $53.00.  She only got what was on the list too.  No frills this year. This too was Amazing. I will take the boyz to get their supplies, this time I know it will be twice as much.  Kentlee and Kyle's list is twice as long as Kharley's. Kyle gets to start PreK and Kentlee will be in Kindergarten.  All three in school, finally.
Funny on Kyle (this time)  Uncle Paul and Aunt Brenda (Paul is Hughlene's brother) came by to visit with me one day and the kids always check out my company, so they hadn't been here long when they pop in.  Uncle Paul said to Kyle: "Hello there Marvin" Kyle: My name not Marbin!! It's Tile!!  That same misunderstanding took place the entire time the kids were here.  Kyle would put his hand on his hip and look dead at Uncle Paul correct him and carry on with his business.  So damn funny.  My name not Marbin It Tile.
When Kyle smells something he just can't figure out what it is, his saying is ALWAYS What dat smell like?
One time Susan called the house when Kharley was little Kharley asked Susan, What you look like? Susan said I look just like Susan.
Kentlee had friends over this weekend, he was showing them how to use all your manners.  He would come on the back porch and in the nicest voice, he would say May I have a Root Beer Nen? Then Thank you and I love you. The other kids just stood there looking goofy. Kentlee would tell them to get what you want you hve to take your manners out of your pocket. He went with me the other day to get lunch at Connies, and on the way back I just said I hope Kyle likes what we got him.  Kentlee said "Well you get what you get and you don't throw a fit!"   He just knows I love to laugh.
I finish the book "The Help"  really good book and I don't read a lot. Jeannette sent it to me and told me I couldn't go see the movie until I read the book.  It was a really good book and I am glad I get to go see the movie now. Comes out in August I think.
Kent and I got all gussied up (well for us anyway) and went to a wedding.  Sweet wedding and the reception was at the Mineola Country Club.  I was not impressed with the MCC at all. I had heard lots of talk about it and knew they played golf but I just figured it was more for the elite.  Neither one of us were impressed with the building or bar and really thought we were overdressed.  I wore white capri pants and Kent in his overalls.  So I guess it really was our type of "country" club..
I have been invited to haul pig feed tomorrow, so top that all you faithful followers of the 3H blog!
Happy piggy tails and to all a good nite.  Nen

Drill Team Alumni

We have been asked to perform at the halftime for this years homecoming football game.  I contacted a few that I knew were still close and the meeting was tonite.  Word of mouth and Facebook gathered us up about 20 ex Rainettes.  The oldest Nan Satterwhite. 59-60 graduate, from the first drill team ever at Rains and then the last year is was in formation which was 95 Rachel Hendley.  It was a lot of fun, we laughed more about us all trying to do a routine than actually planning it.  We will get serious at the next meeting.

I talk about them grands alot I know, but today Kharley had a friend over and it is not Kentlee and Kyles day when she has company.  They all came and swam for a while got mad at them for being mean to the boyz and I sent them all home.  They start playing with the waterhose at Janies and Kyle ends up with a mud ball in his eye.  You could pull the bottom of his eye down and see mud just packed in there.  When I got to Janies she was drowning him in the sink with the sprayer trying to flush this mud ball out.  Some of it came out but not all.  It was the weirdest looking thing I have ever seen.  I had to leave for the meeting so she called her dad to come help her.  So Kent said to just go ahead and plant corn in there cause he can't figure out how to get it all out.   I just knew she was on her way back to the ER with Kyle......that boy!

I really need to go back to work and get on a regular routine.  Today I cooked the Coca Cola Cake that a friend gave me the recipe to.   OMG, it was wonderful,  I also fixed a roast with potatoes.  and for lunch I had the best tuna fish samwich I have fixed in a long long time.....if I had of had more bread I would have finished eating all of it.    So here I am eating like I am starving to death and have this drill team performance coming up.  I hope my routine has a chair involved.

reading the best book called the Help. so no more blogging for me for a while, I want to see how this ends.
good nite to all.......

I have plans today!

Crazy right?  I get to get my hair cut and then I am going to Sul. Spgs.  and I am so excited.  I actually have a purpose today. I'm just giddy!!  Got up early and everything, my appt is at 11 and that is why I am blogging.  Waiting on 11.  I was going to wash my hair and put make up on and everything, then I thought why wash and fix my hair if Im going to get it washed and cut? then I left my makeup bag at my sisters house in Austin, so really I got up early for NO reason.  (other than to blog) So here I sit listening to the dryer going with overalls. CLANK SCRAP,BANG, CLANK.....over and over, it is ever drowning out the outside sounds of HOT!  Wee Bit never made coffee this morning I FB'd her but she did not respond. The gkids are not allowed at my house today.  I don't like this here without me since the pool is up, We fixed the ladder so no one under 10 can get in it, but you never know about Kyle, he could figure out how to pole vault into it if he wanted to bad enough.
Kent was so late getting home last night I made myself sick worrying about him.  He always calls if he is going to be late, and it was time for him to be home and I could not get him to answer his phone.  Just got this real nauseaus (sp) feeling in the pit of my stomach.  I tried to call the shop where he works and the nite shift does not have a receptionist, so it was going into voice mail,  I left 4 messages for someone to please call me back.  NOthing!!  I was headed to Kilgore when the phone finally range at 630.  "I'm on my way"
Where the hell hve you been and why didnt you CALL me??  Ive been trying to call the damn phone was busy!!!  I locked my keys and phone in the truck, Ive been waiting on LockNest to get here to give them every penny I hve for 2 secs work!!  Who the hell have you been on the phone with, Jeannette or Susan?????? Well I was trying to find out where you were. Since 430!!!???  yeah,  you always call me at 430 and tell me you are on your way home, so when you didn't I started calling you cell....Ileft you 10 messages to call me.....you never did.
So it seems like everytime he would go back in the shop to call the home phone I was on it call his cell phone. He only calls my cell from his cell so he does not have it memorized. He wanted me to bring the extra key to him......which I would of his he had of called me.
Oh well it all worked out ok, he will have to take his lunch for the rest of the week cause he gave the LockNest monster all his money!
Kent and Janie got her floor installed, it looks so good,  I am real proud for her.  The gkids are proud of it too.  Kharley is in another pig show this weekend, but I am not going this time, it is Canton weekend and we are also invited to a wedding.  So Hank will just have to strut his stuff without me.
It's 830 I have 2 1/2 hours to get to Emory, I hope I'm not late.
Carla, I still hve you on my mind, I hope to get there soon.  Dont give up on me!

HELLO MONDAY!

Had a blast on Sunday, I was invited to a birthday party for Margie, that worked with me at the school.  She is an amazing person.  I had not seen her or her kids in a long time.  The birthday was at "The Oakes" in Mineola, this is a hidden treasure for that area.  Beautiful grounds and house and pool and area.  If you ever get the opportunity to ck it out it is awesome.  And for sale.
Hank took 2nd place in the first time he was ever showed.  Pretty damn good, for a pig with a cysc on his empty ball sack.  (Kharley is so at ease talking about that ball sack)  The show was pretty small and pretty hot.  Thank you Netter for going and braving the smells. And don't forget to mail me my makeup bag.  Not that I am going to be putting on makeup anytime soon, but I might need to attend a funeral or something.
For Janie's birthday we got her lament flooring from Lowes.  She and her Dad got it installed yesterday. It looks so much better than the green carpet she had.  She is really proud of it too.  She and Kent put our floor in and now that are pros at installation.  The grands spent the night with us last night, we are just gonna chill out today, my take a dip in the pool.  At 10 we have to go feed and water Hank, then nothing.....sounds good to me.
Love to all and to all a good Monday!  Nen

This little piggy!

On my way to New Braunfels to watch Kharley walk a pig in an arena.
That is what all grandmothers do right?????
Staying with Jeannette in Austin tonite, then to NB Kharely walks Hank 2 times once in the am once in the pm then we come home.......
That is what all grandmothers do, right?????
I am trying to convince myself.  I can't see my granny ever doing this for me or my mother ever doing it for her granddaughter, but it is the right thing to do right?????
Gonna make a memory.

Hank, Oscar, Olivia, Fiona, Fantasia and Snooky, these are the pigs names so by name alone they should all get ribbons.

Happy pig tails.......Nen

so far behind I think I'm ahead

I was thinking on July 4th all the stuff I wanted to write about, well I forgot all of it now. But it was gonna be so cool. Then I thought about Kharley's pig, all that was just gross, so I won't mention that either.
So Kent and I are on vacation or staycation as they say now.  We stayed home for 2 weeks and he damned near killed me. So this is how I will update my blog..
We got the pool up and the the kids are having so much fun, Kent even put me up a life guard station (4ft  18 round pool with life guard station)  okay okay Kyle is 3 foot nothing so It is very important I am out there at all times when he is here. I have my chair big umbrella and my nose is white, I look exactly like Pamela Anderson..................................................cough cough, maybe a lot like the main attraction at Sea World, but I don't care, its just me and my grandkids and other kids that show up and we are having a blast. Now the summer is almost over and I am going to have to go back to work, dang it!!
Jeannette came in for 10 days, we cooked and fished and shopped and watched movies and even went to an auction, it was so much fun.  I am going down on Friday with Janie and Kharley to a pig show and we will stay there for 1 or 2 nites then back home on sunday.  I'm sure Kent will miss me sooooooo muchhhhhh....more like his own 3 day staycation from me.
OMG!!! When Net comes in she shops like I don't, so she bought a tow sack full of lemons!?   we made the best lemon pies and lemon cake I have ever ate.  The only thing not from scratch was the pie crust. Paula Dean's recipe out of her magazine she is holding a lemon pie!  Guys and Girls it was "to die for"  OMG Good!! G double o D good, I'm telling you. I follwed that recipe to the letter, even figured out how to Zest a lemon, yeah me!   Jeannette polished silver while I made the cake..   I bought this silver at a garage sale for get this $2 with the little box that they came in.  When we got it in the car, Net about fell out, DO YOU KNOW what you just got??? I said forks and stuff...Well when she shined it all up, it is a beatiful place setting for 6 or 8 I think.  We use stainless or plastic around here, not much of the silver type people, but I will agree it is a pretty set. I will put it out at Christmas, if Glenda will let me borrow her dishes again ;)  Oh Lord I dont even want to think about Christmas now.

Who turned off the fan?

July 6,2011
Damn it's hot! Not sure exactly what I want to write about today so random thoughts it will be..haha
My sweet Aunt Myrtle (deceased Jan 2007) had glacoma, scarry thought losing your eye sight so she kept up with all eye appts. for sure.  One I will remember 4 ever!! Mid June 2003, She was to have surgery for the glacoma and cataracts. The night before the surgery I had her spend the night with me here in Alba. She was not in the habit of spending the night away from home so this was going to be an adventure. She packed her overnight case and away we came to my house.  So much different than hers. She reminded me of how cold I keep my house 100 times in the course of the day, I finally kicked it up to 78 so I would not freeze her to death and gave her my heaviest quilt for the night.   We watched a little TV and she was ready for bed at 830.  June at 830 is still daylight, I get her all bedded down without an electric blanket and she wants a flashlight in case she has to go out (this means pee) So I tried to show her the lamp beside the bed and she just wanted a flashlight.. she didn't think about packing hers.., maybe she would be okay.. she went on and on about the flashlight, I know she was a little nervous but shit.. so .....yep you guessed it.. I found her a flashlight!! Okay here we go..... Kent leaves early for work and always has, well she was up sitting in the kitchen, scarred him to death, not used to people sitting in the kitchen at 400 in the morn, so he wished her well and off he went. Aunt Myrts appt was at 930 in Tyler which is about 45 mins from our house, but we would need to leave early in case......in case of what I never knew...So I got up early too and fixed her breakfast, she told me exactly what she wanted and I enjoyed fixing my Great Aunt's breakfast.     1 sausage, 1 egg over easy not to runny, 1 piece dry toast, 1 cup of coffee.  Nothing more nothing less.  I had the exact meal. I now know why she was so skinny all her life.  (the lack of food is the secret) got the house in order as she would say and then got on the rode early for the surgery, every thing went as expected. They wanted to see her bright and early the next morning. So I thought we will just go get her some more clothes and back to my house....WRONG!!! She wanted to go home.  I could not let her stay by herself after the eye surgery, we had a list of drops, pills, and every pill had a different time to take and a one drop in the left eye 2 in the right take a pill hold head back...Lord it was going to take a nursing staff to do all that, SO I got my clothes and spent the night with My Great Aunt. in a 100 yr old house with no A/C.
It was going to be a really loooooonnnnnnngggggg nite..I asked her if she had a fan, she did have a fan, she would have to get it out of the closet. Lord.  She brings out this pristine 1940 something model General Electric oscillating fan in the original box. Me: Does it work?? Her: It did the last time I used it. Me: when was that? Her: Can't remember. Lordy. Just sitting in her kitchen watching TV with her I have broke a sweat a middle linebacker would be proud of. She never plugged in the fan.  Her: Well it is 830 time for bed. Me: What? I have just finished dosing her will all the meds and flushing her eyes with drops and now we just go to bed.. At this point I tell her: Aunt Myrtle I am melting!  Can I take a shower to cool off before I go to bed? She reminds me it's only Thursday?! Me: It not about the hygenie its about survival. If I don't cool off before I go to bed I will burst into flames. She allows me to take a shower, I thank her from the bottom of my thermostat. I normally don't sleep in to many clothes, but some how I knew this would not fly well with Myrt so I get out of a cool shower only to put on a tshirt and underwear.  I sneak my wash rag to bed with me so I can cover my face, or I should say eyebrow.  (it was a rag, tiny little rag to wash my fat body with) I get to sleep in Aunt Lilly's room, this is where I will bake for the nite, and   THE FAN IS ON!! Hell to the yes!!! WAIT.......the bed is on the far side of the room. the only electric plug is on the opposite side of the room with a 2 foot cord.  Only 1 speed on the fan! Jesus Christ.  NO AUNT MYRTLE I DON'T NEED A BLANKET!!!!!!  but thanks for asking.  I am her guest so it would not be good to drag the bed over closer to the fan, I am thinking about sleeping in the floor with my nose/head/body within inches of the scarriest fan you have ever seen.  Machetie looking blades, and I would turn over and slice my ear off...No I will make this work....1 Oscillating fan, 1 speed, SLOW, seemed liked 50 feet away, sundown barely and it was 99 degrees in the house.  She is snoring I peek in on her, she is under a sheet and light blanket, the windows are open and not a breath of air is stirring the curtains.  Holy Mother of God.  I will surely parish in this heat.
I am miserable.  About ever 10 turns of the fan I feel a wisp of air A Wisp of Air!! My little eyebrow rag is trying so hard to comfort me..................Sweet Jesus, is that Aunt Myrtle cooking breakfast already??? I am exhausted I truly melted, my tshirt, underwear and sheets are soaking wet, and she has the burners on cooking breakfast. me:   Hey, Aunt Myrtle, I will buy you a donut on the way to the dr. office?  Just give me a few minutes and I................Her: Breakfast is ready.. 1 sausage, 1 egg, 1 piece of dry toast and 1 cup of HOT coffee.......Me:  thank you be there in a minute.  Her: Be sure and put that fan away I won't be using it.
Me: Yes Ma'am!
GOD BLESS AIR CONDITIONING..
Okay Carla, Net and Pam, I updated my blog!  Love Love..
Mike and Penny, I hope you enjoy this.

No ladder and an Antique Radio.

June 23, Thursday
Well I took Kentlee and Kyle to Jenny's to swim with Kharley and Hagen. Yeah I wore my suit!!,  just in case it looked like fun.  Well it did and I did......getting in no problem, just fell right in, getting out big problem.....I tried really hard to push myself up on the edge and flip around like Kharley did hundreds of times, and just step over to the ground, in fact she kept showing me just how easy it was......................................hell Hagen and Kentlee even showed me how easy it was..........................and believe me it looked so much easier than the way I finally got out of the pool with no ladder. :(
Yes I considered calling MGVFD at the suggestion of Hagen, but then thought I am 50 something years old, that is not the way I want to make the local paper. So Kharley says, Nen you think you can get in that inner tube?  (don't that sound easy) I was thinking the only size inner tube I could fit into was a tractor inner tube, and the onw they had was just almost my size..... So all 4 of the children do their best to push my fat ass up into that inner tube.............success, at least now I was level with the side of the pool.
I forgot to tell ya'll we had been running/walking in a circle in the pool making a whirlpool and the kids would just float around on there backs, we were having the best time.........so now I am in a inner tube, trying to go over the side of the pool w/no ladder and can't get the whirlpool to stop so I cna just flip over the side.  This is becoming a long story I know, but ppl need to consider all aspect of swimming....., the hazzards to fat ppl before taking the plunge!!.................
so finally, Hagen stands on one side of the innertube to stop it from taking another lap around the pool , Kentlee and Kharley are trying like hell to flip me and this tube over the side......Kyle is still just floating around the pool in a circle, yes face up...singing Donkey and my Dog...........oblivious to the trama his Nennie is experiencing or could have cared less...probably the latter.......
SUCCESS!!!! tHE children manage to flip me out over the edge of the pool.....It was not that far a drop, but a little unexpected jar.  After I assured my self nothing was broken and nobody witness this NON- Ester Williams move, I got to the porch and Thanked the good Lord for looking out for me who is suppose to be watching the children, you would think Janie would quit asking me to watch the little darlings? HUH??

Now I want to take you back to that same day but the morning activities at the house.........

Kentlee and Kyle are with me, you remember Kharley was with Hagen, so I thought I could handle it ok, so the boyz and me are gonna spend the day together, I get them breakfast, we start playing and Kentlee has to go poop...(a pattern with him right) Kyle follows him into the bathroom to keep him company, I don't think anything about.  I am puttering around the house washing drying clothes, all of a sudden I hear a HUGE crash!!! from the bathroom????!!!!!   I run to save the children from the UFO that has crashed into the bathroom....WTH!!! right?? what has happened??? I get the door, I hear the boyz talking not crying, I hear Kentlee say "Nen is gonna be so mad KYle" about the same time I open the door...............................................
Laying in the floor is Kent's GG Great somethings really old antique Radio, with the  glass tubes, shattered on the floor.  Now this radio was on TOP of the bathroom cabinet, as a display piece, I had to get a ladder to put it up there. HOw in the WOrLd could it just fall??? Been there for 15 years..........Kyle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kentlee what happened??, KYLE says I bok it Nen...with a frown on his face.  Kentlee is still sitting on the pot, them eyebrows shoot up on this forhead again and you can tell he is thinking Nen is gonna kill him 4 sure!!
Kyle How did you get up there???? Kentlee explains it but not in these same words.  Well the little shit climbs up on the counter opens the cabinet door  swings around and climbs the shelves inside the cabinet like a ladder, you can see where his feet had pushed the stuff over in the cabinet!!!!
This to me IS UNBELIEVEABLE!!!!! This child has no FEAR of anything...... I pick/clean up all the parts on the floor ask Kentlee to please finish his job and go outside and play.........He ask me if I am going to take Kyle "to PA's ROOOM?" Yes I am, they hate to be talked to in our bedroom, thats where Kent disciplines them, NOT ME, but I know the room has a fear from them.  So I sit Kyle down in a little chair in Pa's Room and make him stay in the corner looking at nothing for 30 mins. I am not against beating the children, they all should be beaten until morale is restored, I just don't do the beatings!  So we talk, and talk, and talk, he cries and cries and finally says he's sorry.....I say okay lets go swimming....................................!!!!!! gonna be a long long summer!!!!!!!!

Summer Week 2

It is all gonna be OK.  Not as bad as I thought it might be.  Kharley is so grown up when it comes to the care of her brothers.  Her cryptonite is thunder, I have decided.  The past few days has been so HOT, and then out of the blue it thunders and rains.....much needed rain. Thank you Lord.  Janie brought them to the house this morning and she thought they would be gone when the storm blew by, well right now they are still here.  It is 3 pm and I have threatened them within an inch of each life.  Up early, played hard, even played in water, so a nap is needed, I think more for me, but I am determined they take a nap, the argueing had started and I was fixin to loose it.  So all of a sudden I am turning into Bobbie Jo.... Take a nap, if you don't sleep, fine just lay still.   Well I have my bluff in on the boyz, but not Kharley.  She waits for both of them to go out and she comes downstairs.  Oh Well!!

Tonight is her LAST softball game for regular season.  8 oclock in Mineola....so glad this season is winding down.  Alba has asked about picking her up for All Star tourney,  yes you heard me sigh!! How in the world is Janie gonna be able to do that.  Kentlee;s team won there division in Tball, they now go to the all star tourney and if they win that, (which is all the Rains team they have beat already) they will advance to state.  Rmember Kharley just got back from the BIG tourney in Levelland! and they say the Tball State tourney is in West...OMG, I have never heard of West either. My Mom had 4 kids and I never remember her bouncing all over the state with kids like Janie is doing.  And we were pretty active kids. Or so I thought.

I have been asked to help with a wedding for a very sweet couple we know.  I told her I had boo coo's of tableclothes and they could be used, she was so excited, I could not find the TC's anywhere I thought I had left them at Susan's house, she told me I had came and got them.  Okay did she remember where I took them? She did not...so the hunt is on.  I was preparing to go door to door looking for those damn TC's.  I called one friend she remembered me getting them from her to take somewhere else, but couldn't remember whre I was taking them. I called everyone I knew, No one had them, I called Susan back and told her that I thought her mom might have them, Susan said no that her Mom had used them but brought them back to Susan's house but that I had came and got them.  Okay so what do I do?  I started looking thru the storage building I got from my Mom.  This storage bldg has the entire household of furniture from Aunt Myrtles in it and it all has to come out so I can see if those damn TC's are in there.  This involves Kent's help............................................................yeah well he ain't to happy about it either.  So he begins to tell me where all I needed to look, like I had not already looked there, but to shut his ass up I looked again.  I kept telling him they can not fit under the bed, the tub they are in is to tall.  What color tub is it?  Well Kent it the big blue one you have got down for me hundreds of times.....Oh that one well I know where it is, he says!  Where?  It is on top of the storage room that has the Christmas decor in it....No it ain't!! Look up there, there it is.  The big blue tub.  Kent That Is Janie's Christmas decorations!! It is NOT! It those damn TableClothes!I knowI would not store my linen and lace tableclothes outside on top of a storage bldg! We are going at each other and right before I get the ladder out to drag my ass up on top of that storage bldg to PROVE him WRONG............Rob and Susan pull up.  Thank you for saving our marriage I tell her, she says Do You love me?  yes Susan I always have, Why you asking and looking like that?  She says" I have had your TC's all this time"  Why you want to do me that way Susan?  She had told me that she didn't think I believed her when she told me I had come and got them...And really I didn't ever remember coming and getting them, but Susan told me I did and I did not question her.  She said she did not have them and that was that.  Well Come To Find Out, she was using my big blue tub of TC"S as a end table for a TV.  Toys is what was in there...She never thought it could be my TC's.  Well it don't really matter they are home now and I will forever keep a sign in and out log on them!   OH yeah this also PROVES KENT WAS WRONG!!! (licking my finger and marking another one in the air) Carla this does not mean I aint coming to visit you sometime, so keep looking for me!

Okay remember this is only week 2 of my Summer Vacation, and Jack calls me at 1:00 and tells me again, that his satelite is broken.  I get a call about 2 times a month to fix his TV.  Kent and I thought we were doing he and Hughlene a big favor by giving them our old system and upgrading ours.  We pay for his service so it was just a gift that keeps on giving thing................................................................................................
Well I am fixing to reposses the system, and let him go back to VHF. He has over 200 channels and will only watch the History channel.  Then he gets a wild hair to use the TV remote to change channels and when the screen goes snowy white, he calls me.  It is never him it is always something to do with the satelite.  I put the tv back on channel 3 and I am the repairman of the DAY!!  Ta Da!  I cna fix anything.  Good Lord.  Technology is Not Jacks friend.  Kent Tony and the family thought it would be good for Jack to have a cell phone, and convinced him to take it with him everywhere he went.  And believe you me he goes everywhere. Will he answer the cell phone if it rings.....no, will he make a call if he locks his keys in the car, again..NO.  What good is a cell phone if you dont use it?  Somethings just ain't right, and Jack with a satelite TV system and cell phone in one of them..
Stayed tuned to Week 3, should be _ool time they is no P in the pool!!!! funny funny ha ha ha..get it!!!
Love to all and to all a good nite no day no afternoon, Wake up Kids YOur MoM is HoME!!! thank you lord!!

Rysa Little Dribblers ( History makers)

All Star Basketball Season is over for the RYSA Jr. Girls.  These girls have made Rains County history.  I don’t know exactly how to go about checking it but if the preacher says it’s so it must be so.
Ten girls were picked from all the groups of girls playing basketball in the regular RYSA Little Dribblers season. My belief, as a grandparent, was that this would give them a little more experience for the next year and it would not interfere with softball to much.  Remember this was my belief.
So practices begin and tournament play starts.  It is all going great, we are winning games, every time we turn around and the girls seems to be having a great time.  The coaches are beginning to see more than just winning a few games. Eyes are looking at our team and the skills they possess. The other teams are now whispering about Rains. These girls are having a blast and winning is just part of the fun. So this starts the beginning of history making, lots of games and lots of gyms and lots of miles. One game keeps coming up and I just have to share it with you.  Our girls played at Crossroads. Never heard of this little town and still not to sure it’s not the area where the guitar player met the devil, anyway… When we entered the gym it was unlike any facility we have ever played at.  No score board, No possession light, No time clock equipment, No buzzer.  Basically, 2 goals, 1 basketball and a hard floor is all it was. The following is what was used for the above missing items:  Score Board—Dry Erase board with a dried up marker, you had to spit on it to make it mark. Possession light—Honey Bun box with an arrow drew on it with black crayon. Time Clock—Cell Phone if you had one with a timer. Buzzer—the loudest air horn ever made. Each team was responsible for providing there own score keeper, that day it was me. So don’t tell me our girls can’t overcome obstacles, because they have played under the worse conditions and come out winners. After winning that game we advanced to a better facility that had all the right equipment to make it a true basketball game. Did I mention this was the same tournament my daughter and I got ejected from? That’s another story…
Okay so the final tournament to name the Regional champs rolls around in Teague. This is where we make history for the RYSA!  We win the title of Regional Champions.  In 3 short weeks we will be playing for the Little Dribblers National Junior Girls Championship. In Brownfield.  Brownfield? Where is that? Ever heard of Levelland? Nope. How about Lubbock? Lubbock!? The Championship Tournament is an 8 hours drive one way. So now the hard work for the families starts. Until now we have just sat back and watched the girls do the hard work.  If we are going to stay in Brownfield we should have fund raisers to at least pay for the motel rooms, if we can find them.  We needed other items as well, not just motel rooms.  We needed a banner for the opening ceremony; we would like to have matching T-shirts and socks. There was so much work to do and only 3 weeks to get it all done.  Car Wash, boot drive, raffle tickets and just plain begging was what they came up with.  It worked; they managed to raise enough to pay for rooms for 2 nights.  The other nights would be on the parents.  Watching these girls work hard during the season was one thing, but seeing them work just as hard for the trip was a sight that should make every parent and grandparent proud of.  They worked and played as a TEAM with one goal in sight!
RYSA Basketball Commissioner Jason Campbell, held a pep rally for the girls on Monday night at the Emory City park.  He presented each girl with a send off package of goodies and they enjoyed drinks, cupcakes and cookies. They all decorated cars and had another great fellowship with the team, before this journey ended.
All the team members arrived safely at the Holiday Inn in Levelland.  This motel was the closet one that could be found at the time the arrangement had to be made. Levelland was about 30 miles from Brownfield where the actual games would be played. The Wildcats first game was at 445 pm on Wednesday June 8.
This next part is where the party begins:
As they enter the gym, images of Crossroads immediately comes to mind for the parents. Really?  This is where we are to begin fighting for the National title? To say something nice about this facility is hard and the only thing I can think of to say is the air conditioners worked and it was cool inside the gym. The girls played that game for all it was worth. At the end of the game tied up.  Overtime!! At the end of that 2 minutes…tied up.  Overtime!! (again) With only a few seconds left on the clock we foul, Bowie goes to the line with 2 shots. She misses the first and makes the second. Score is Bowie 32 Rains 31.  We threw the ball in and the buzzer screams! Our girls lose this one in DOUBLE OVERTIME BY 1…………Nail Biter and Heart Breaker.  Coach calls them all together and tells them we play again tomorrow at 300 pm.
After the game against Bowie we are invited to attend the opening ceremony for the tournament at 700pm.  The girls got to walk around the football track with the other 27 best teams in the state of Texas. They proudly held up their banner that stated they were the Regional Champions. During this ceremony if you wanted to enter the hat contest you were invited to strut your stuff.  The parents had “Blinged out” each of the girls an awesome cowboy hat with sparkles, feather boas, beads and each of there numbers.  In this spectator’s opinion, they were by far the best of the best!  The judge apparently was blind in one eye and not able to see from the other, as she chose another team over us for the award. We now know what is expected and will not be caught off guard next year.
Thursday June 9 300 pm, Rains versus Fairfield, here we go, the battle is on to fight our way back up from the loser’s bracket.  We were hot. We looked good. We played with 100% pure joy of the game.  We had the gym excited. We were the queen’s of the court.  We had game.  We lost.
Final score Fairfield Wins Rains Youth Sports Assoc. Makes History……..

The day after.

I am sure I said thanks for the invitation to the after graduation party for Morgan, but in case I didn't, THANK YOU James and Mary Helen for having me over.  I had the best time.  It was good to see James being hisself, asking tons of questions, I never know exactly how to answer, afraid he will use it against me in a court of law ;) It was good to know Morgan and Dylon was not at some pasture party, getting high. (oops Carla did I say that!) It was good to see Presley nd Audie at graduation for there big sister.  It was good to finally get the meet the CD and Asst CD!!  It was good to see Pam's tat, and it not be rotted flesh with angry red streaks on it, it was beautiful and very tasteful. It is good to know that Paul and Katelynn are always happy.  It was good to see the other side of Mary Helen family, I don't get to be around much.  IT WAS JUST GOOD! And I had a blast, riding home with Uncle Sam and Martha. You know Carla...And I hope you know I only want the best for you and your family.
I really wanted to sleep in late this morning, Kent had to work and all I thought I had to do was go by Brookshires and get my car washed for a small donation.
Well Janie called me at 7..you ready to go?  UHH NO! Mom we have to set it all up? No one told me that. Did I forget to tell you that?  UH Yes Jane, a minor detail, I will be there as soon as I have my coffee.
I think if anyone ever suggest we have a car wash for a fund raiser I will run.  We put out a few signs and the cars started stacking up before we even had the water hose hooked up.  It was Janie, Kharley and ME..where was everybody else.....I was in panic mode...then all the gang showed up and the water fights began...A cool spray of water is not bad on an old fat granny, that was in charge of cleaning wheels.  After it was all  put away, the team did pretty dang good.  It stopped at 2 the hottest part of today and the BEST part of the day. A HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL THAT DONATED SO GENEROUSLY. And I know it had to do with the elbow grease I was putting in on the wheels, had nothing to do with 10-12 young cute little girls in bathing suits and pony tails. I had those WHEELS SPARKLING!!
Needless to say I am spent, exhausted, wore out, and tired...so looking forward to my pillow.....
happy trails to you, to ALL a good nite.  Nen

School (is almost) Out for the Summer

Right now, this very minute I could be getting ready to go back to the Bahama's. :(   how sad.   Back when Cord ask me if I wanted to return I turned him down because of the new job and I was just not comfortable asking to have the last week of my contract off.  WELL it turns out I am going to be off the last week of my contract, not going to the Bahama's but to Brownfield,,they both start with a B, but it aint the same. Although I have never been to Brownfield, it may just turn out to be PARADISE. ( I will post my decision after my return).
Brownfield is where we are playing for the National Champs Title.  (Little Dribblers Basketball Kharley's age group) Has anyone ever heard of Brownfield?  didn't think so.  Anyone ever heard of Lubbock, heard about it in a song and rear view mirror...so we will see.
T-Ball update: Red Sox Undefeated. As Kentlee walks up to homeplate with bat in hand, he is playing the air guitar.  Every Time.  So Cute, the crowd roars with laughter and he smiles and eats it up!
Kharley has been commissioned to keep the boys for the summer.  So the first day she had them, she calls her mom at work...MOM Kentlee is saying the P word when I make him mad.   Mom......Put Kentlee on the phone......Kentlee are you saying bad words? Kentlee.......are you going to whoop me if I say it?  Mom......No, what are you doing? Kentlee...She is pissing me OFF!
Next day...Kharley goes to a friends house, boys go back to Donna's.  Not sure how much Kharley will make this summer....Hope Kentlee and Kyle can out run her.
At Kyle's 4th bday party, the wind was blowing alot.  We went to the Alba park early was there at 10 it was really nice, but the wind was so high.  When it came time for cake and presents, we all sang HBTY and it was time to blow out the candle.  This was Kyle's time to get pissed...WHAR MY CANEL??? MOM??? WHAR MY 4 CANEL??? Explain high winds and tiny candles to a 4 year old. priceless..
We (I say we) moved some more dirt for the pool.  The ground is semi concrete and takes a pick maddox to persuade the dirt to move.  I got home from work on Memorial day, yes I worked on Mem. Day. and James and Kent were hard at it.  Sweet was pouring off of Kent he looked pale and needed a break.  James on the other hand had just got his second wind and could see the finish line.  I, being the little helper that I am, grabbed a shovel and told Kent I would take his place and help James get this job finished............................
When I woke up from the heat stroke I had suffered (kiddin) all the company had left, must have scared the pjeezies out of them.  I don't know what happened.  I thought I was making some kind of head way out there. It was hot, hot hot but I was doing okay, vaguely I remember Kent saying U O K?  just needed a drink, then everyone was gone..............................
Looking forward to graduation on Friday, glad to see Morgan closing this chapter in her book of life.  I can't wait to see what the title of the next chapter will be.
Wishing I could introduce my grandsons to Pam grandsons and see who survives!  LOL
Can you tell it is Wednesday?  Kent is at Prayer meeting at the man hole and the rest are somewhere, all alone here by myself......somedays I love it, somedays I don't....Today it is love!

Don't fence me in and Happy trails to all and to all a good nite.  love, nen

May, where have you gone?

Just look at the calendar! It is almost June. Everything is flying by and I am missing most of it.  We, the whole family, has been so involved in the RYSA season we have almost missed May!  Geez.... Kyle birthday is the 28th and I haven't even got an idea for his present.  My friend Michele, just became a grandparent, my other friend Shelley is in the hospital, or so I heard, and I have done nothing. Morgan's prom has come and gone, next graduation.   The Junior Girls Basketball team has consumed my entire life....Work has been a madhouse.  When I did payroll for the school district, my routine never changed, same thing everyday, nothing exciting.  Now that I am on the campus level, it is chaotic.  Never know what you are walking into or when it will hit the fan!  So many personalities to get used to. AND you never know which personality it is going to be. About the time you get one down and you think you have it figured out, up pops another one.  It's the movie-- Sybil times 18!!!
Kent is trying so hard to get our pool up.  Janie and I helped, if you can call it that, Sunday.  We are not speaking to one another today.  Kent knows so much but has the hardest time explaining the process to me and Jane.  Finally Janie screamed at him and I KNOW I AM A DUMBASS, so explain it AGAIN.  I thought maybe if she understands it then she can explain it to me.  Thank goodness, we were invited to a birthday party and had to quit early....wooshoooo!  Dodge that fight!
So today, Monday I got Kent a dental appt with a new dentist.  A sedation dentistry office.  Dr Gary is sending him to Dr Tiner in Gville to have 4 teeth cut out, they will put him out to do it all at once.  We left Sul Spgs and was home by 930 this morning.  Janie calls and says Mom can you get Kharley she passed all her test and is out for the summer. Wonderful Flex year....at Rains... I told her I had to work but Kent was off he could get her.  I was on my way to work, stopped to have the oil changed in Kent's BRAND NEW 2011 PICK UP AND the techs at D and D said he had some trouble under there and I should take it back to the dealership....well shit!   So I call Jane and Kent tell them I will just pick up Kentlee and Kharley and take off the rest of the day in order to get the damn truck in the shop.  Okay Mom!   OH by the way we have a game in Mineola tonight at 6, Kharley's team.  Oh boy!!! I called Kent and told him about the game and the truck at the same time.  When I got back home he was getting ready to follow me to Mineola, it was about 1130 by that time so I fixed us a sandwich and it dawned on me.....DUH!  Mineola game tonight, we could just wait and drop the truck off as we went to the game...Save a few miles in gas and money.  So Kent puts his work clothes on and starts on the pool prep again with the aid of Kentllee and Kharley.  I start trying to find my kitchen.  Ring Ring, it's Janie again...............Mom, tell Kharley to go get her uniform and would you PLEASE wash it for her?................welll sure why the hell not!  Get a wash going and attempt one more time to find that damn kitchen.  I have never been a fan of paper plates or plastic cups, but I do believe Summer is a perfect time to change my ways.  Especially as close as these children live to me.  NO one drinks twice out of the same damn glass.....why????  Empty dishwasher, feed every scrap I can possible find the Macky, reload the dishwasher, and start sweeping, yeah I need to mop, but to hell with it, it's raining!!!  Oh did I tell you after we made the big decision to just wait on going to Mineola for the truck and game, it started raining.............Kharley wants to know if the game is canceled.  Well I hope so, oh I mean hope not, but we have to go to Mineola anyway so might as well watch a game too. My word,  could this day get any more confusing??????  The Mavs play tonight, I so hope they beat the thunder out of OKC....get it??  bahahbahahaha.
Oh yeah I am suppose to be raising funds for the BIG National Tournament the girl is in........save me some steps and just send money.....all denominations accepted.....receipt upon request...smile!!

Mother's Day 2011

For whatever reason, Kent is having a real hard time this year with Mother's day.  He wants to go to the cemetery tomorrow, first Mother's day in 3 years.  Hughlene died in August of 2007.  He has been to the cemetery maybe 4 times in the 4 yrs she has been gone.  I on the other hand have been to visit with Mom Doe Daddy, Granny and Granny Pa about 1 a month since Mom and Granny have been gone. I won't ask Kent to go to Woosley tomorrow, we will just visit P-Ridge, I think Mom will understand.
Today was Founder's Day at the city of Emory.  I have never really participated much with that event, but this year we sat up a card table (we Carla, Morgie and I) for our Rains Alumni Association We had a Banner ....The banner was bigger than the table I brought, so we just wrapped it around it..Funny, Silly looking but the company was wonderful and I got to visit with lots of Alumni.....brought Kent some lunch and went back to the city Park for 'The Duck Races'  Kharley, Kentlee and Kyle each had a..1..one..duck and all thought they would win that Wii system....I think the odds where against them, about 400 ducks in the creek and the first one to pass thru this slot was the winner.......and I'll be dang, the number 1 duck was the one in the lead for the first 15-25 feet of the race it was turned upside down and you could see the number.....at first I thought WTH!  then it started to slow down and looked like it was taking on water....and the rest of the ducks got pushed up to the shoot....it was neat hearing the kids scream out the numbers......I'm not sure who won but it was NOT Kharley Kentlee or Kyle not sure who won the homemade Ice cream contest or the 42 contest.....then the Flaming Duck race...this is a race between the local VFD's from Point, Emory and East Tawakoni....with real ducks.  I kinda thought they were gonna set a duck of fire, but someone said it was called Flaming for the Fire depts.....ok well anyway, each city had a volunteer to grab 1 live duck jump in the creek and try to shoo the duck down to the bridge.  SOO Funny!!  East Tawakoni's duck took a turn and went to the donut shop direction, she spent the majority of the race trying to catch her duck, the Point and Emory was in a dead heat and right before each duck got to the bridge, they each turned around....NO winner so they tried again.  Emory Volunteer dove into the creck almost right on top of his duck, while Point Volunteer, just kinda begged her duck to please go under the bridge.....after it was all over Point is STILL THE CHAMPION FLAMING DUCK WINNER!!  I think the anouncer said the 4th year in a row for Point...I love it when Point dominates!
It was all in all a good day, my grandkids seemed to have a good time as I did.  Hope all the Mom's that read this have a great day tomorrow.  Each of you deserve it.
Thanks Carla for making my day....

Okay I'm tired of crying!! I used to wonder why teachers were constantly tired and weary and looked haggard.  Well it's because of Teacher Appreciation Week.  My Boss has planned something exciting for all of our teacher for every day this week.  I have run around and been Little Ms. Helpful all week and my give a damn is almost used up....Come on FRIDAY and get me back to normal on Monday! Maybe the crying will stop as well, no wait Sunday is Mothers day!! Janie will make sure I cry no more, I just know it....

Prom Season (for some)

Thank you Lord for getting Pam and Danny thru the Prom.  Colby and Chelsey were never in danger like Mom and Dad....The best story is on Fenter Funny Farm, if you get the chance read poor Pam's ordeal with 2 attending the Prom.  Thanks for posting it Pam, I remember well the 2 prom's Janie went to.  Both of them with her first ex husband. For what they put me thru they should of had to live together for ever!!!
One year I helped with Stacy's  after Prom party...and swore then this aint never gonna happen again.  I was on constant watch for kids going to the woods, leaving in trucks, people coming out of the wood work just looking for a party.  Some events should just be forgotten and never spoke of again. The one thing I remember was a couple got into the biggest fight, because he wanted to leave and she wanted to stay with the rest of the class.  She was crying......mad me so sad, they ended up leaving and all she wanted to do was just and party with all her friends, boyfriend thought it was lame.....dumb ole boy!!!
One pre-prom party for Janie, we had a photographer come out and made some great pics of the the kids.  That is probably what Pam should have done.  She has a brother in law that has a really good camera and if asked nicely would have done that for her..(Huh Paul?)
Wish I could figure out how to post some pics from Easter, I have the best pic of Kent and Kyle with the "catch of the day"
I need an easy pic posting 101 lesson.....anyone??anybody???PAUL!!
Talk again soon, Happy Trails and Happy May!!( 40 degrees and the wind is blowing!!!!! go figure))  Nen

The last Friday in April

I got so mad tonite at dinner.  There was this idiot stupid ass disrespectful fool, walks into the buffet at Mineola with a Tshirt.  BIG BOLD WHITE LETTERS ON A BLACK TSHIRT-----F*CK YOU  ya'll I'm from Texas.  (The U was in place) I have a hard time writing THAT word, oh I've said it plenty, but not in a public place and I especially don't wear the WORD!
I think I saw the fool first, cause I asked Tutz, what does that shirt say, about that time Kent and Stack looks up and we all agreed that was exactly what it said....The buffet is full of people, little kids, elderly, and us, all of a sudden I can't finish my food, I am just sickened by this.  We talk about it and wonder why they would seat someone with F -You on there shirt?  We paid out and mentioned it to the mgr who had not seated the fool and she didn't do or say much.   I decide he should be charged 10 times the amount of the buffet and then ask to never return.  I really wished they would have made a statement by NOT serving the FOOL!  We should have asked the idiot to turn it inside out or something, but we didn't, so that makes us part of the problem as well.
Okay I aint thinking about dumb ass any more.....I just wish it had of said New York instead of Texas.

Okay gonna talk about Kentlee again.  The morning this week it was so cold, Thurs. I think, I was getting one more cup of coffee before I left for work and was looking out my kitchen window..,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Kentlee was walking down our lane toward the house.  He has a little jacket on and was just strolling along.  I step out on the front porch and say "what's UP?"  He and Macky are just strolling along and he tells me he left his sun glasses in Pa's truck, he is gonna need them today at school...............................................
I ask him if he knows where they are and he tells me,  yeah,  Nen I left them in the back seat.....................
I hear him open the truck door,  he gets the glasses, then he yells out, gonna ride my bike back, the bus is coming.......................
I go back to the kitchen sink, watch him and Macky (dog) go up the lane sunglasses in place, and the big yellow bus coming down the road.
I can just close my eyes and still see him, so comfortable with his surrounding and not afraid he'll miss the bus.
I love all my grandkids, I seem to talk more about Kentlee than any of them tho.
One day this week Janie ask me to watch them all while she ran to town, I was exhausted, it had been the day from hell at the school.  I had been up and down  and in and out, helping all the tchs and my boss, to the point of  I was totallly spent....the only thing I could think of was my chair and the TV.  I ask Janie if Kharley was going with her or was she going to stay, she wanted to stay if she could.  She was my savior for the evening, I told her I was really tired and she would have to entertain the boys, she never missed a lick, she played and got them something to eat and was fixing to start the shower when Janie got back......She is growing up so fast and I am afraid I am using her to much to bail me out.  To clear my consience I will start paying her!
and now I will just say KYLE.............he won't do.   Names the worms at Easter, licks this fingers after digging them out of the worm dirt, one more time. and questions everything imaginable........flashlights got batteries?????Yes Kyle, blue flashlight got batteries??? Yes Kyle, flashlight work??  If it has batteries it works Kyle....go eat worms and leave me alone!
As granny Jennie would have said, "I think alot of them kids"

I hear an ice cream calling my name,
Good nite to all and to all a good nite   xoxoxoxo  Nen

blah blah blah

I like to update this once a week, or should I say I would like to update this once a week.  But......by the time I get home for being on the computer and get thru reading all the FB stuff, and then read Pam and Carla's blog's I feel like I have sat at a computer all damn day!!
Just a few things so I can say I updated:
Finally went to the Dr. I have had a cough/wheeze since Dec and I was tired of it.  I am a product of second hand smoke and I had got into my mind, the BIG C so I thought to hell with just go find out.  Asthma....PLEASE!!! 2 inhalers and a ton of little white pills and I think I'm cured....Iwish I would have gone 4 months ago...
Kharley has had strep, week before the big Taks test Week, not good...but she is feeling better, her math grades have improved to 90's so maybe her report card will reflect at least a 70....that child that child!
Kent finally had enough of walking around this huge by large RED cabinet I brought home from Austin and remodeled it to fit our TV.  LOVE IT, thank you HONEY for all your efforts, can you please hang up all the stuff I had to move to get it where I wanted it??  okay yeah I know I might be pushing him a little. ( I thought putting the cabinet in the middle of the living room was a good idea, thought I would get it where I wanted it faster, it was there for 2 weeks) He is not much on doing things in my time frame, huh?
Kentlee is just pure joy, that's all I can think of saying about him, he loves wearing those silly little hats Pre-K makes in class and always tells you what it is about, like you couldn't guess this last hat had to do with Easter, I think the Eggs and Bunny gave it away. the last one was covered in green clovers, any guesses?
Kyle---if he tells me "jus ooon mo   Nen, jus ooon mo  ..translation(just one more ) I'm gonna bean him.  Everything...Kyle put the toys up, Nen jus oon mo min. Kyle eat some more of your sandwich, Nen jus oon mo bite, Kyle don't jump off the bar again...Nen, jus oon mo time....GRRRRRR!!! terrrible 3's this too will pass, please Lord, make this pass.
In case no one has heard, Janie and Jeff are separated.  I hate that for them, hoping they can reconcile, but I will back Janie on her decision.  3 kids.....gonna be hard, Kent and I will help out as much as we can, but I ain't raising my grandkids.....I love them to much to do that to them!
Jack is dancing the week away, I think on some weeks he goes to 4 dances.  He rests most of the days so he can boot scoot the nights, Sunday is church, so that just leaves 2 days a week to tend to the cattle, mow his yard, and catch up on the local gossip, yep life is good for Jack.....Hughlene I miss you so much!
Well that's my update, Gonna spend some quality time with Kent now, I think I can hear him snoring on the couch, I can have the best conversation with him at this time...He agrees to so much at this time too!

Love to all and to all a good nite.  Nen

Vision!!

I have an eye appt this morning at 10 after that I go to Sam's for the school for "much needed supplies" ;).  I was going into work and get one of the "Burb's" but they were all taken for the day, so I will take my own vehicle and hopefully get reimbursed for the gas.  $3.71 in Emory, crazy!  My eye appt is past due, I broke my computer glasses and have been using dime store cheaters for about a month.  I stole a pair, I mean a permantley borrowed a pair from my sister couple of weeks ago and now it is just a have to case.  I need them only to see or read or look or watch, but I hate the thoughts of wearing them 24-7, I don't need them to drive or work in the yard, but I do need them to fish.  I thought about contacts but can't warm up to that either. So it's gonna be a long visit with the Eye Dr...
It feels weird being at home on a work day, when your not sick, or mad :0), I'm just waiting, I got the washer going, the trash is out, floor swept and I even fed the dog.  Just waiting........tic toc tic toc.......
This weekend I tended the garden as granny would have said,  all my squash plant fell victim to the dog or a grandson, not sure which probably both......demonic animals, what did those beautiful squash ever do to them? I had them all planted at the very end of my little plot of soil, and they are just plowed over, looks like they were have fun romping thru my Sunday Supper! Out of the 4 plants ALL are gone..dammit! The tomatoes on the other hand are "LOOKING GOOOOD"  I planted 12 and only 3 of them are mysteriously gone, just plucked up and g-o-n-e!!  I don't want to even guess, okay Aliens, surely not the grandson's.  I keep saying Grandson's because I know my precious Granddaughter better know better!
Killing time so I will ramble some:
Some Family Facts....I have 3 sisters and 1 brother in their 60's!!! Judy, Jeannette, Johnny and Susie...60's, It just seems so weird that they got so old so fast!  2 of them are eligible for Social Security Benefits......that is old people income!  My gosh when did this happen???? I should remind everyone that I was the baby of the family and all these old people are the reason I am what I am.
I'm trying to kill time so just bear with me....
Doe and Mary Beth had 3 kids
Vandell and Bobbie Jo had 4 Kids. All families lived next door to each other in Point, a long time ago, we all played together and were at each other houses all the time. This is how I learned to play 42.  So therefor we all hated one another just like brother and sisters do.. but I think they all loved ME! (everyone else can write there own story)   So we have in birth order, the magnicient 7!  Judy, Jeannette, Johnny, Susie, Danny, Jackie, and Jeannine. A bunch of BABY BOOMERS, Huh? Judy and Jeannette born in the late 40's the rest in the 50's.So life goes on and Doe and Mary Beth divorced, Vandell died leaving Bobbie Jo to marry Doe. Mary Beth remarries.  AND THAT'S THE WAY WE BECAME THE BRADY....FENTER/OLER BUNCH!! And you know for the most part, we still get along, we stay in contact, we are getting together for Easter at Mom and Doe's place.  Looking forward to being with what family I have left.  At work someone mentioned :family reunion: Something our bunch never really did, we might need to reconsider it....there are those that are getting old......er!    Love to all my brothers and sisters. See you at Easter, Oh and Johnny you are not to partake in any strenious activities or eat anything I bring!!!
And Susie told me you wanted everyone to bring 1 egg  per family , really??? Johnny this is why.....nevermind!

Love to all and to all, Happy Trails!!! Nen
