I have a cook book with that title..there is not a recipe one in it I would ever cook but I do love the title. And I am so ready to have the some sweet tea on my back porch with the screen doors. This has got to be the longest winter in the history of Texas winters. I love snow and cold, but getting real ready to be done with it. I thought I would never say this, but I'm ready to pack the flannel sheets away.
It has been so long since I updated this, I can't remember if I told ya'll Kent got a new truck. We kept the old one for the size and farm. We can fit all the family in the old one. The new one is just big enough for him and possibly 1 other if they are small. Single cab short wheel base full size pick up. The last one of those we had was in 91, gave it to Janie when she was a junior in high school, she gave it to Jeff when they married and he is still driving it. I just hope we can get 20 years service out of this one. Maybe we will give it to Kharley when she is a junior in high school.
Sad to say I won't be going to the Bahama's this year. Every year, Keep asking me Cord cause with me you never know what my schedule will be. I hope Sarah don't get caught in customs trying to smuggle cigars over here. You better watch her, you never know what she is going to do. I remember I was just happy when my luggage finally found me.
Talked myself and my friend Susan into a invitation to Pebble's house in Smithville during the Round Top trade days. Looking forward to seeing Net, it seems like a lifetime ago since she was here. Planning a long weekend in April feels good.
Talked with sister Susie the other night, she said "Your gonna think I'm crazy" yeah she said that to ME.. anyway she wants to have Easter at Bobbie and Doe's place. I reminded her we sold that place and Debbie and Henry might have other plans on Easter. She meant the 6 acres that is left to have an egg hunt at the pool and have the kids hunt eggs again at the farm. It's gonna make me cry, I know it will. Everyone is gone, that used to do all the cooking and planning and laughing and the softball game.
Every one remember Granny Jennie playing softball and sliding into home plate, She had to be in her 80's when she was doing that. Never broke nothing! AND she was SAFE!!
Then there was that Cold Snap that came on Easter Sunday when it turned so cold and windy, we all dug out coats and gloves and scarves. Mom and Doe had worked for a week getting every thing ready down at the pool for Easter and nothing was going to stop us from having it outside. Lots of "old" people there, so we gathered up big pieces of plywood for a wind break, had every one in a huddle trying to stay warm. All the little children in there Easter outfits so cute, but freezing to death. But we had some more fun...
Then there was the Easter we all had the family feud. Momma and Doe was walking back from Doug and Joyce's house and they had a dog "CUJO" it hated Momma. Doe could make it growl and nip at Momma heels, we saw the humor in this but somehow Momma didn't. It took a year for us to have another Easter after that ( yeah I know)
Anyway, I told Susie you call your side I will call my side and we will all meet at the Pool on Easter Sunday. ( I will pack a coat and ball bat just in case)
Gotta work tomorrow, TGIF!!!
Good nite to all and to all a good nite. xoxoxo Nen

SNOW!! LOVE IT
I like the snow. I do I do I do!! I also like not having to worry about getting to my job in the snow. Kent for the first time in a while said "It ain't worth it" so it was a snow day for him as well. The gkids came down and we have had a blast today. Jeff had to work so Janie was acting just like the gkids and was jumping up and down to be outside. Kents gets the keys and a closet full of clothes on and cranks the 4 whlrs. Over the creek and thru the woods, they all go.....My beautiful picture perfect yard and pastures and tore up! But oh what fun it is to ride behind a 4whlr in a little tike turtle sand box lid......that dont really rhyme but golly gosh it was fun. Our 4whlr (thank you Paul) will do the BEST donuts! Jack's 4whlr will just dig and go! So after a while Kent let me play on ours (alot funner than Jacks) and I tore it up some more. We went to see how hard the pool was frozen. Kent had gkid #2 with him I was alone. He drove right to the edge of the frozen pool and I was thinking I hope he stops...well he did, but then it would no back out...so here I come to save the day!! And I ask him what the hell was he thinking....he just wanted to see if a cow stepped on the ice would it break....and if the front wheels would break it then he knew they could get water. WEll at the time that theory did not enter my mind. He is trying to get out of playing in the snow with me by driving off in to the lake, is what I was seeing......cow getting water my ass! Anyway between me screaming and him throwing muddy snow all over me I,,I,,II get him out of the pool.......(yall believe me right?)
So after that I take Gkid#2 home and we both go in the house to warm up and before you know we are both snoring our heads off. We wake up just in time to get a bath and go to visitation for a friend of ours.
This is a serious time and not to be taken lightly, we always "try" and have a little control of our emotions and actions at the funeral home, but not tonite...........!!!
Kent and I are looking for a parking spot that is not boot top deep in snow or icy mush. He thinks he finds one but when I open my door it is a lake. So he pulls up just out of the water and I get out. He tells me to go ahead so I do and I am waiting for him at the door. I wait and wait. He the hell is he, is he talking to someone did he find a better place to park? There were several people coming out of the funeral home and they are all looking in the same direction as they come out so I turned to see what they are looking at. Well there is a person on the ground over there by a chevy truck. That guy must have fell down, they start walking toward this guy and I am just looking at this guy thinking I wonder if thats Kent.....This guy is crawling toward the truck and slowly gets up and is still slipping ever time his feet get under him....No that aint Kent he would not fall it is to wet to be on the ground, surely that is not Kent...This guy finally stands up starts dusting the snow off of him and then gets a good footing and walks toward this crowd of people and it is Kent, he is laughing as hard as I am by now.
I say Kent was that you on the ground over there? He said who did you think it was? And why didn't you come help me? Well if anyone knows me he does, and he knew I was laughing to hard to help anyone.
So I help him dust what he can't reach off and we go on into the funeral home. He is soaked. We pay our respects and leave.
On the ride home He tells me he would have gotten the gold medal for his combination gymnastic/ice skating abilities. I know I would have given him a 10 if I had of only seen the beginning of the event.
Good nite to all and happy snow day of 2011-Feb 4

Think Warm thoughts
I'm thinking fishing in the pool waded up to my knees with my fishing pole. Okay I am fixing to move over there to the really mossy area where I know there is a perch bed, can ya'll hear my feet making that sucking noise when you feet is all buried up in a muddy muck of the stock pond. I am catching perch as fast as I can since I moved over here. The hot summer sun feels so good on my shoulders, I have sweat running where I hate for it to be running. Oh No Macky, (the dog) don't jump in by me!!! Dammit, all the perch are gone now.
The pond I want to be fishing in RIGHT NOW is almost frozen completely across it. It not thick enough to walk on but still its frozen.....Now that is cold! I thnk my feet are the coldest too. I go barefooted when I am home, I hate wearing shoes and socks inside the house, and I can't think of another time my feet has been this cold. Janie and Jeff are experiencing frozen pipes so they have been coming down here to bathe and when the kids get out of the tub, they come running thru the house. I look at there feet and cringe, cold little toes and feet....I start for the dresser to look for socks, don't care if they match of not, I just get cold looking at them.
At school today we experienced our first "Rolling Black Out" we were without elec. for about 20 minutes. When the lights came back on, we were told in order to protect the server, we had to do without heat.. !!??
It's 18 degrees outside of the metal doors and haddock block building... 18 degrees, not counting in the wind chill factor so you know it was bitter cold rushing in when the doors opened. Protect the server??? what about my feet!!!!! they are cold, forget the children, my feet are cold!! Rumors were running wild, we may let out early, lets feed the children then we will send them home....feed the children................my feet are cold, anybody listening to ME! I was so glad to see 330 get there. The children are gone we can leave, my car has wonderful seat heaters and I rode home setting on my feet....
Okay here is some more G-Kid- ism : they are all leaving and Janie tells them to thank me for letting them take a bath in warm water. Kharley (10) gives me a big hug and says thanks and thanks for braiding my hair. Kyle (3) Tank oo Nen for taking a baff...Kentlee (5) I like your bathtub Nen I'll be back 2mrw and take some more.
Yesterday they all stayed with me. We watched Toy Story 3, MY Favorite movie so far......OMG if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it, it is woderful!! When it was over. I pulled every blanket, quilt, and cover that I had out and we made tents all over the living and dining room. We had tunnels going under the swing, thru the dining chairs around the back of the couch. Then I cooked a cake Tutz told me about, it's called Honey Bun Cinnamon cake......delicious....It is all gone, in one day. I hope the kids had as much fun as I did. I I I me me me, I never set foot outside the house yesterday, my feet were warm all day. Today they have not been warm since I got out of bed. I am going to bed tonite with socks on and I may put my socks in the microwave to warm them up before I go to bed.
To everyone that is reading this Try to stay in as much as you can, stay warm and if you have elderly people in your life be sure and check on them, there feet might be cold.
Love to all and to all a good nite. Nen

2nd day of school closing
This is just weird. Our first snow day was Jan. 10 and then today Feb 1. On this day we have no snow just freezing rain, sleet and high high winds..Crazy. When Janie called this morning the conditions were not bad she said did you know they closed school? Yeah ( I work there) not sure cause the weather is not that bad right now, found out they were thinking about this afternoon getting the kids home would be worse than relaeasing early. So today me and the grands are watching Toy Story 3 and staying out of the wind. Pete Delkus told us the wind chill would be -1......does that really happen in Texas. Guess so, next week it will be back to normal, whatever it is in Feruary. Kyle is hungry 24-7 that little feller may eat me out of house and home. Kentlee and Kharley are playing together and it is just nice to hear them not yelling at each other. I know it won't last long but I am going to enjoy it all I can. Well before Kyle starts peeling a tater I guess I better start some lunch.
Be back later Nen
