3 days later

AND look!! I'm updating it again! Wow, I might not do this again for weeks.  Got my mater and squash planted, I have my knife and plate ready! I thought I had 9 maters but turned out I have 12, so I hope out of 12 plants I get 1 mater, we will see.

It's Wednesday and Kent is attending the weekly meeting of the minds........(up for interpetation) He got the riding mowers out last night around 930, made sure they all would run, and left them right beside the back door, so I could see them I guess.  Well I saw them.
Kharley came whizzing down on Kentlee's 4wheeler with Kyle.  Kharley 10 yrs old stands at least 5 feet tall and is all legs, she looked like a grand daddy long leg spider on a bumble bee.  they need groceries so she and Kyle was shopping.  Funny to me Janie has money to loan out to friends and never any money for food.

We, my boss Ms Traylor, Josh, Karen and I went to the New Intermediate school today to look over the furniture that was left when the elementary moved out.  Lots of good stuff, some junk and unwanted items.  What is left will all go to the auction in SS on saturday.  I would like to bid on a few things, just don't know how to sneak it in without Kent seeing it.  What I want would take the trailer or a semi....may have to....walk away....just walk away.  that's what the little voice is telling me..shut up stupid little voice.
I overheard one of the guys say buses were going to the auction as well.  A 72 passenger bus!! Would that not be the best vacation wagon in the world, you could take EVERYONE with you.  I may need to tell my nephew about this auction, he might have an interest.

Did anyone see the moon on Saturday 3-19...the news ppl and Tutz said it was suppose to appear brighter and bigger on that night because of the alignment of the planets.  I was fortunate enough to get to see it and it was beautiful and bright and it did appear to be closer than your average full moon.  Made me step back and realize just how small we all are.

Okay I'm hungry, the kitchen is clean so it looks like a PBJ sandwich, don't want to mess up a good thing.

Happy Trails to all and to all Happy Trails.....
Oh give me land, lots of land under starry starry skies, DON'T FENCE ME IN!!    love and hugs Nen

Spring Break 2011

My week:
Monday-I kept Kentlee and Kyle, it was kinda cool so we stayed in the house most of the day. Played, colored, watch a little TV, no movies, Kyle sat most of the day in the little chair naked, that boy refuses to wear underwear, so I refused to give him any clothes.Janie took us to lunch and then nap time. Before we new it Mom was here to take them away from me.  (Kyle told her all about "Nen made me sit neeked MOM!!"  (little shit is so funny)
Tuesday- bought a push mower, lumber, 4 squash 16 tomatoe plants, fertilizer and black ribbon and thread.
Wednesday- I got to keep all 3 grands....Kharley is growing up so fast, I have to remember to treat her like an adult and no longer a kid.  We went to McD's and a movie, Kentlee thinks he is Rango now wears cowboys clothes with 6 shooters and a cigar.(yeah a stick in his mouth) I let Kyle wear clothes because he promised he would not take off his underwear.  ( I kept a close watch on him) Then to Braums for ice cream home in time for Mom to snatch them all away (again)
Thursday- Kinda cleaned house.  I completed the one cabinet in our bathroom, one cabinet! I will never figure out why I don't just put the trash can inside this cabinet.  All the trash seems to end up in there anyway.  Soap wrappers, tops to hairspray cans, razor covers, toothpaste boxes.....half bottles of mouth wash...shampoo.  Anyway it is clean I hope until the next Spring Break. Kent got off early to start his 3 day vacation, so I helped him with his gathering of goodies for the river. Ended up going to W-Mart at 10:30 for last minute items, that are so necessary for a river trip......hooks and a paddle.
Friday- We were to be on the river at 7, Stack and Tutz woke us up banging on the door screaming "Your Late" We crawl out of bed and have to finish packing the trailer and trucks with the rest of the gear we didn't load the nite before,  We finally get to the Sabine at 9:30am unload all the crap and finally get to the fishing part of the vacation.  3 for me 4 for him, but we had so much fun in the boat. Kent had an old trolling motor, Bill Dance" model, he hooked it to the back of the boat so all the handles were away from him...he looked like a contortionist trying to steer and move around, we jumped a bunch of log jams a few we tried to get under, this did not happen....we don't bend like we used to. Got back to camp without falling out of the boat, (Thank You Lord, for this) and drank beer until dark thirty, I came on home, Kent stayed in the fruit stand.
Saturday- Ileft the house about 8am and when I drove by Janie's Kentlee was standing in the doorway and he waived at me.......I thought no, he is to little to go.....................so when we got to the river, I made him promise me he would not drown , he said ok. This next part was funny for some, and I will recover one day................Me and Kentlee were sitting on the banks of the Sabine and fishing our little hearts out, well I should say livers, that is all the fish would bite was chicken liver..........I hate c. Liver..hate the shit!!! I had baited Kentlee's hook, about 12 times because.....well he is 5...that's why, but I had finally got him fixed and mine in the water and sure enough got all hung up in the shit in the river, so I pulled really hard to free my line and hook from the tangled mess of the river and..........................................yes, it came un done and the liver slapped me in the face.........................................................the biggest blob of rotten stinking chicken liver you can possibly get on a hook slapped me in the face.  I was sitting down (again Thank you Lord) I fell backward and just laid there for a few seconds and then I started feeling in ooze down my neck. This is when my stomach started churning and I was glad I was outside.  I told Kentlee to get his pole out of the water and go to Pa.  I glance over and Kent is looking the other way and I noticed his shoulders were moving up and down.  I know the SOB is laughing at me, and I accept this as my lot in life for all the times he has provided me comedy in our life, but this was Chicken LIVER in my mouth and running down my neck! I am trying to get Kentlee, his pole, the rest of the damn liver my rod and reel to the camp site so I can come home!  Kent can't get up for laughing!! OK, stop laughing long enough to help me! and Kentlee.  Kent is not very agile on the river, it is kinda steep and you have to go around all the dead trees and vines and it is HOT....I am wearing liver and it is HOT!!! Please KEnt hurry!!I need clean water really fast....I give up I leave Kentlee with him and I haul ass to the little babbling brook close to the river and dive into it.   (ok this is not true, but I wanted to dive into the little babbling brook of really clean water)I gget to camp and  I washed up best I could with what resources they have at a camp site in order to get home.   I throw Kentlee out of the truck and I scald my body and hair and gargle for 30 minutes. And believe it or not I returned to the scene of the crime for the best fish fry EVER!! Them boys of the bottom can sho nuff cook some fish! It was G double O D good!
Sunday-  Time to break camp and let the cleaning begin,,,,I hope to have all the pots and pans put up by the time I go to bed.

Good nite to all and to all a good nite.   Nen (chicken liver hater)

Ok, I'm updating!

Geez, I never knew I had so many followers, I think I like this...
Between this and FB I never know what I have posted and what I haven't...so if I repeat myself, it's because I'm updating.....hahaha
The latest I think was getting thrown out of that damn basketball game....(it was embarassing, but the ref should have that whistle shoved up his ass)
It seems like Janie and I are at each others throats alot, and I can't figure out why, got to be hormones right? can't be Promzilla (Pam) she aint going to the Prom (as far as I know) I hope it all comes out soon, I don't know if I can take much more.
Our campus had open house the same nite we had the Alumni meeting, I really enjoyed both.  I love my new position, I miss working with numbers and adults.  Although there are some children alot brighter than some of the adults I worked with. The aAlumni is a work in progress.....
The kids pull at my heart.  They all have different stories, but there are a few little boys and girls I just want to bring home with me, and hid them from there parents.
I know the houshold Janie grew up in was not "leave it to beaver" atmosphere, and we argued over everything, but some of these kids are raising themselves. 9-10-11 year olds alone, just a place to sleep, no guidance at all.  Yep I'm sure it has always been like that, but I never knew it. I was never in the middle of it like I am now.  So much needs to change in this old world.
NEXT>>>>>  today Kent went to a swap meet in Canton, not sure why, he never buys car parts, we have everything they have here, but it is his addiction.  He told me when he gets back he will break ground for a garden...now this will take a few months to get in garden fashion, but at least it will be a start.
AND>>>  we got the pool liner in this Friday, now I just have to replace the ring at the bottom of it.  I have gone online, you have to have a doctrate in engineering to order the c-clamp attachment with vertical/horzontal, grooves, with overlapping...yada yada...SHIT!! I will ask Kent if he sees one at the next swap meet, thats the one thing we don't have...
OR>>>>This week is our Spring Break at good ole RISD... looking forward to it...we have had a lot of time off due to all the snow, so I was thinking we might have to give SB up....(note to self)  never say this in front of stressed out teachers.  OMG, they went left on me......I will apologize now for my shortcomings in the line of vacations.
MORE>>>Susan and I are going to crash in on sister at the end of this month.  We will be partaking in the festivities at Round Top..population 7...funny and I love it. Antique Trade show that invades this tiny town.
My addiction.
RANDOM STUFF...like all of this aint Random (huh Carla?) Got Kharley a new bike,  Kent ran over her old one last summer and we was going to get her a new one for her birthday in Sept, just never did.  So the other day, I just had her so we made a mad dash to WalMart and she picked it out.  I think she likes it.
Kentlee rides his all the time, Kyle will not ever attempt to sit on one.  He can run faster than a bike can go, so I think he sees no need.  Maybe when he sees Kharley and Kentlee on 2 wheels he will want to.
LAST ONE>>  I went to my first Karoke (sp) bar!  OMG, FUN FUN FUN, no I did not sing, but my toe sure was tapping.  I was invited to a birthday party and we did a progressive party, started out at Chili's and ended at Muddy Jakes.Sherri almost missed the first leg but got there in time to proceed to the next bar, oh I mean venue.  I hope Denise and Brandy were able to blow the whistle at the Avon Rice Relays on Sat.  Betsy, Ellen and Mary were surprisingly hiliarious, and I loved being with them in a non school setting. Thank you Glenda for asking me to join, it beats the BLZD of the Month!! And Susan it was good to see you smile and have a good time, you need a few tears of laughter instead of sorrow.  Looking forward to your return.

That's it, the sun is shining and I think a earth worm is waiting for me to find him.

Good day to all and to all a good day!!  Nen

Screen Doors and Sweet Tea

I have a cook book with that title..there is not a recipe one in it I would ever cook but I do love the title. And I am so ready to have the some sweet tea on my back porch with the screen doors.  This has got to be the longest winter in the history of Texas winters.  I love snow and cold, but getting real ready to be done with it.  I thought I would never say this, but I'm ready to pack the flannel sheets away.
It has been so long since I updated this, I can't remember if I told ya'll Kent got a new truck.  We kept the old one for the size and farm.  We can fit all the family in the old one.  The new one is just big enough for him and possibly 1 other if they are small.  Single cab short wheel base full size pick up. The last one of those we had was in 91, gave it to Janie when she was a junior in high school, she gave it to Jeff when they married and he is still driving it.  I just hope we can get 20 years service out of this one.  Maybe we will give it to Kharley when she is a junior in high school.
Sad to say I won't be going to the Bahama's this year. Every year, Keep asking me Cord cause with me you never know what my schedule will be.  I hope Sarah don't get caught in customs trying to smuggle cigars over here.  You better watch her, you never know what she is going to do. I remember I was just happy when my luggage finally found me.
Talked myself and my friend Susan into a invitation to Pebble's house in Smithville during the Round Top trade days.  Looking forward to seeing Net, it seems like a lifetime ago since she was here.  Planning a long weekend in April feels good.
Talked with sister Susie the other night, she said "Your gonna think I'm crazy"  yeah she said that to ME.. anyway she wants to have Easter at Bobbie and Doe's place.  I reminded her we sold that place and Debbie and Henry might have other plans on Easter.  She meant the 6 acres that is left to have an egg hunt at the pool and have the kids hunt eggs again at the farm.  It's gonna make me cry, I know it will.  Everyone is gone, that used to do all the cooking and planning and laughing and the softball game.
Every one remember Granny Jennie playing softball and sliding into home plate,  She had to be in her 80's when she was doing that.  Never broke nothing!  AND she was SAFE!!
Then there was that  Cold Snap that came on Easter Sunday when it turned so cold and windy, we all dug out coats and gloves and scarves. Mom and Doe had worked for a week getting every thing ready down at the pool for Easter and nothing was going to stop us from having it outside. Lots of "old" people there, so we gathered up big pieces of plywood for a wind break, had every one in a huddle trying to stay warm.  All the little children in there Easter outfits so cute, but freezing to death. But we had some more fun...
Then there was the Easter we all had the family feud.  Momma and Doe was walking back from Doug and Joyce's house and they had a dog "CUJO" it hated Momma.  Doe could make it growl and nip at Momma heels, we saw the humor in this but somehow Momma didn't.  It took a year for us to have another Easter after that ( yeah I know)
Anyway, I told Susie you call your side I will call my side and we will all meet at the Pool on Easter Sunday.  ( I will pack a coat and ball bat just in case)

Gotta work tomorrow, TGIF!!!
Good nite to all and to all a good nite.  xoxoxo Nen

SNOW!! LOVE IT

I like the snow.  I do I do I do!!  I also like not having to worry about getting to my job in the snow.  Kent for the first time in a while said "It ain't worth it" so it was a snow day for him as well.  The gkids came down and we have had a blast today.  Jeff had to work so Janie was acting just like the gkids and was jumping up and down to be outside. Kents gets the keys and a closet full of clothes on and cranks the 4 whlrs.  Over the creek and thru the woods, they all go.....My beautiful picture perfect yard and pastures and tore up! But oh what fun it is to ride behind a 4whlr in a little tike turtle sand box lid......that dont really rhyme but golly gosh it was fun.  Our 4whlr (thank you Paul) will do the BEST donuts!  Jack's 4whlr will just dig and go!  So after a while Kent let me play on ours (alot funner than Jacks) and I tore it up some more.  We went to see how hard the pool was frozen.  Kent had gkid #2 with him I was alone. He drove right to the edge of the frozen pool and I was thinking I hope he stops...well he did, but then it would no back out...so here I come to save the day!!  And I ask him what the hell was he thinking....he just wanted to see if a cow stepped on the ice would it break....and if the front wheels would break it then he knew they could get water.  WEll at the time that theory did not enter my mind.  He is trying to get out of playing in the snow with me by driving off in to the lake, is what I was seeing......cow getting water my ass!  Anyway between me screaming and him throwing muddy snow all over me I,,I,,II  get him out of the pool.......(yall believe me right?)
So after that I take Gkid#2 home and we both go in the house to warm up and before you know we are both snoring our heads off.  We wake up just in time to get a bath and go to visitation for a friend of ours.
This is a serious time and not to be taken lightly, we always "try" and have a little control of our emotions and actions at the funeral home, but not tonite...........!!!
Kent and I are looking for a parking spot that is not boot top deep in snow or icy mush.  He thinks he finds one but when I open my door it is a lake.  So he pulls up just out of the water and I get out.  He tells me to go ahead so I do and I am waiting for him at the door.  I wait and wait. He the hell is he, is he talking to someone did he find a better place to park?  There were several people coming out of the funeral home and they are all looking in the same direction as they come out so I turned to see what they are looking at.  Well there is a person on the ground over there by a chevy truck. That guy must have fell down, they start walking toward this guy and I am just looking at this guy thinking I wonder if thats Kent.....This guy is crawling toward the truck and slowly gets up and is still slipping ever time his feet get under him....No that aint Kent he would not fall it is to wet to be on the ground, surely that is not Kent...This guy finally stands up starts dusting the snow off of him and then gets a good footing and walks toward this crowd of people and it is Kent, he is laughing as hard as I am by now.
I say Kent was that you on the ground over there? He said who did you think it was? And why didn't you come help me?  Well if anyone knows me he does, and he knew I was laughing to hard to help anyone.
So I help him dust what he can't reach off and we go on into the funeral home.  He is soaked. We pay our respects and leave.
On the ride home He tells me he would have gotten the gold medal for his combination gymnastic/ice skating abilities.  I know I would have given him a 10 if I had of only seen the beginning of the event.

Good nite to all and happy snow day of 2011-Feb 4
Love Nen

Think Warm thoughts

I'm thinking fishing in the pool waded up to my knees with my fishing pole. Okay I am fixing to move over there to the really mossy area where I know there is a perch bed, can ya'll hear my feet making that sucking noise when you feet is all buried up in a muddy muck of the stock pond. I am catching perch as fast as I can since I moved over here.  The hot summer sun feels so good on my shoulders, I have sweat running where I hate for it to be running.  Oh No Macky, (the dog) don't jump in by me!!! Dammit, all the perch are gone now.
The pond I want to be fishing in RIGHT NOW is almost frozen completely across it.  It not thick enough to walk on but still its frozen.....Now that is cold!  I thnk my feet are the coldest too.  I go barefooted when I am home, I hate wearing shoes and socks inside the house, and I can't think of another time my feet has been this cold.  Janie and Jeff are experiencing frozen pipes so they have been coming down here to bathe and when the kids get out of the tub, they come running thru the house.  I look at there feet and cringe, cold little toes and feet....I start for the dresser to look for socks, don't care if they match of not, I just get cold looking at them.
At school today we experienced our first "Rolling Black Out"  we were without elec. for about 20 minutes.  When the lights came back on, we were told in order to protect the server, we had to do without heat..  !!??
It's 18 degrees outside of the metal doors and haddock block building... 18 degrees, not counting in the wind chill factor so you know it was bitter cold rushing in when the doors opened.  Protect the server??? what about my feet!!!!! they are cold, forget the children, my feet are cold!!  Rumors were running wild, we may let out early, lets feed the children then we will send them home....feed the children................my feet are cold, anybody listening to ME!  I was so glad to see 330 get there.  The children are gone we can leave, my car has wonderful seat heaters and I rode home setting on my feet....

Okay here is some more G-Kid- ism :  they are all leaving and Janie tells them to thank me for letting them take a bath in warm water.  Kharley (10) gives me a big hug and says thanks and thanks for braiding my hair.  Kyle (3) Tank oo Nen for taking a baff...Kentlee (5) I like your bathtub Nen I'll be back 2mrw and take some more.

Yesterday they all stayed with me.  We watched Toy Story 3, MY Favorite movie so far......OMG  if you haven't seen it I highly recommend it, it is woderful!! When it was over. I pulled every blanket, quilt, and cover that I had out and we made tents all over the living and dining room.  We had tunnels going under the swing, thru the dining chairs around the back of the couch.   Then I cooked a cake Tutz told me about, it's called Honey Bun Cinnamon cake......delicious....It is all gone, in one day.  I hope the kids had as much fun as I did.  I I I me me me, I never set foot outside the house yesterday, my feet were warm all day.  Today they have not been warm since I got out of bed.  I am going to bed tonite with socks on and I may put my socks in the microwave to warm them up before I go to bed.
To everyone that is reading this Try to stay in as much as you can, stay warm and if you have elderly people in your life be sure and check on them, there feet might be cold.
Love to all and to all a good nite.    Nen

2nd day of school closing

This is just weird. Our first snow day was Jan. 10 and then today Feb 1.  On this day we have no snow just freezing rain, sleet and high high winds..Crazy.  When Janie called this morning the conditions were not bad she said did you know they closed school?  Yeah ( I work there)  not sure cause the weather is not that bad right now, found out they were thinking about this afternoon getting the kids home would be worse than relaeasing early.  So today me and the grands are watching Toy Story 3 and staying out of the wind.  Pete Delkus told us the wind chill would be -1......does that really happen in Texas.  Guess so, next week it will be back to normal, whatever it is in Feruary.  Kyle is hungry 24-7 that little feller may eat me out of house and home. Kentlee and Kharley are playing together and it is just nice to hear them not yelling at each other. I know it won't last long but I am going to enjoy it all I can.  Well before Kyle starts peeling a tater I guess I better start some lunch.
Be back later  Nen
