I love to NOT cook. Clean up is a breeze for sure. Kents home, belly is full and yep the TV is ON. So I am back to the BLOG.....
I was thinking about Thanksgiving and I am going to try and have everyone here at the house again. Then the next weekend is the McKenzie Christmas....let the games begin!!!
I will be sending out the invitation to the McK Christmas soon hoping to get everyone excited about. Or try and get some enthusiasm built up, and it will I know. I just get overwhelmed once and then it is over. I had this idea about McK Christmas presents. I wanted to do our own cookbook. I know the men of the McK clan will be thrilled! I had the idea and I was going to use Snapfish and put it in an album form. Gonna see how saavy I can get with this. OH CARLA!!?? lol.
For James and Ashley's wedding, Jeannette bought 8-10 mums for the reception, they looked so nice on this big patio at the Oaks, they also look nice on my front porch. Thank you Nettie!
Sunday afternoon before we started cooking supper we walked down to the pool to fish. Net, Kent Sarah and me. I catfish I do not bass fish, so at first I just knew it was going to be a pleasant outing for me just enjoying watch them catch fish and me untangled wasp nest from my reel. That is my norm. Well just guess who caught the biggest damn bass for the day......Yep It was ME! Pure skill that is all it was pure skill. Kent said it would go about 3 or 3.5 lbs. Now our pools is as low as they have ever been and between all attacking the pool, the fish was just getting clobbered from all the lures coming at them. Except the one I threw in cause I know what I'm doing. between all of us Sarah cleaned about 10 lbs of bass to put in the freezer. That gal can clean the fish. Kent kept the knives sharpen and she and Net had those fish filet'd in no time.
Here is the funny for you Net.....When I pulled that 10lb bass in on the bank, I carefully walking him to the stringer of fish and the weight of that fish and the water level of the pool, sucked my right leg into the muck up to my knee. I had stepped forward and bent over to get the stringer to put that 15 lb bass with the rest of those tiny little bitty other minnows, they called fish, and thought I would drop my 20 lb bass when I couldn't get my foot out of the mud hole. Finally Sarah came over and took that 25 lbs fish out of my hand and I was able to pry my leg out of the hole.
My fish story I'll tell it the way I want to.
Kent and I walked back up to the house to start the charcoal for supper and let Sarah and Net fish for as long as they wanted to. We were sitting on the porch and could see them dragging the fish up from the pool to the truck. It was a pretty neat picture. Kinda one of those Hallmark moments.
Okay it's 8;30 so I am going in there and wake Kent up so he won't miss his favorite show. HillBilly Handfishing......oh Lord. If you seen this, you might be a redneck.
Love to all my family and friends, until we meet again.Happy Trails. Nen

11-1-11
Once upon a time huh, all one's get it..Waiting on Kent to get home he is back working 12 hour days, hate that but sure love the money. It will be nice here at Christmas. Oh my I said the C word, already! Wow, this year flew by. I believe we got by on less this year than any year in the past. I took such a cut in my salary when I moved to the campus level. Almost one third of the salary I had. That cut on top of the gas prices and Kent driving so far, it has really hit home. We don't have near the money to help Janie and the kids that we did. Since she and Jeff are now separated, she needs alot more help, than we can give. She is not doing without anything, just not any extra money for what all the kids participate in. The kids have no clue, as it should be.
The Recycle Me Retreat is coming up this weekend, and for the life of me I can not get excited about it. The devil is working his magic on me I guess, or I am allowing him to. I need to get right, but it just seems like every weekend for the month of Oct something was happening and I had about 5 places I needed to be at the same time. Now this weekend it is starting again. I want to help with the retreat and I want to go to the birthday/homecoming for Charles and yes it is all on the same day. I'll figure it out.
James and Ashley's wedding was precious and beautiful, I am so proud for them, I hope the listen and will live there life as the preacher explained it. It is all about giving and forgiving. The Oaks, is where the reception was and It is a beautifully well hidden secret of Mineola. WOW. it was awesome. She had worked so hard on all the table decorations and planning, I hope she gets to breathe and relax for a couple of weeks. Ashley you did a great job, thanks for letting us be a part of it all.
I hear Kent coming down the road, front door is open and NO TV is on. I love the sounds of that ole truck, we are having take out for supper, gotta go pour the tea..
later to all ...love Nen

October Already!
Wow, September was a blur..I was fixing brownies for the gkids after school today and Kentlee and Kyle both wanted to like the bowl...memories started flooding in on me. I can remember like it was yesterday Momma fixing a cake and me and Jackie fighting over the beaters on the mixer. I can also remember the saddest day ever.....The day Momma got a rubber spatula :( As long as I can remember she always used a big ole tablespoon to scrap the bowl with and it always left a big amount of batter in the bowl. So I would gladly give up my beater for the bowl. Then my day was destroyed by that spatula...dammit!
I am so proud of Carla for getting back to running. And proud Pam and Danny are settled into a neighborhood with close neighbors. I think of both of you alot, just don't get the time to call or visit. I miss playing Canasta with Pam and miss laughing with Carla.
Jeannette is coming in for the big wedding (James and Ashley) my nephew and bride to be, so excited. Jeannette has her house on the market, I hope it sells and she can move up here with us. I miss not having her alot too.
Kharley got Jr. Livestock Showmanship Buckle at the Rains Co FAir. We were so proud of her. She sold Hank and has a little time to breath now. Her 5th grade year is flying by, she was chosen to be a Junior Counselor at the Intermediate. Sound little but it really is a big deal. The principal nominated her for all the help she gave him in the bus when he had to drive her route. Also for her maturity. Yep, she is growing up so fast.
This past weekend, the MAN CAVE crowd had a benefit skeet shoot, auction and fish fry for Charles Covey. Charles was paralyzed on Easter 2011 from an accident while playing with his kids in the yard. So Sad! He is the husband of Kaysi Matlock and they have 2 daughters and He has 3 sons by another lady. So here is a man with a wife and 5 children confined to a wheelchair with limited mobility. He has been in rehab at Dallas Baylor for several weeks and is expected to be released the first week of Nov. Kaysi surprised everyone when she drove up and had Charles with her. This was the first time he had been home since April. I cried and cried. What a surprise. What a tragidy.
I know it was all over FB but I just got to say HOW MUCH FREAKING FUN it was to perform again with the RAINETTES!! I had my doubts to start with at that first practice, then the last practice we still had not all got to practice together and I was dreading it...and then BAMM!! It fell into place like it was 1976, all over again. So I had gained a bunch of rolls, who the hell cares, I was having a blast and our drill team got a standing ovation!! So Proud of all of us. Thank you so much!!
It is Wednesday and Kent is at the BS session up the road, Janie cleaned my kitchen and has taken the gkids home for baths and homework, I think I will watch a little TV Harry's Law to be exact and hope to update again soon.
Good nite to all and to all a good nite......Go Rangers!!! love Nen

Labor Day 2011
The heat wave finally broke!! Yipee Skippy!! Today the cool breezes from the North is coming thru the front door and it feels wonderful. No Rain and for that I am sad, but the cooler weather is wonderful.
Jeannette shut up about keeping this updated. Get your own blog and you will see it is a time vacuum. I love you!!
Kent was asked to go Dove hunting with Damn Mac..( Danny Mac) he was so excited. He has shot bright orange clays for so long he hopes he can recognize a real dove when it flies by. Not sure how long he will be gone. I would guess as soon as the house is clean and all the laundry is done he will be back. We talked last nite about all the things to do today since we were both off it was going to be a really full day and then Dmmit called. I will see how much he gets done.
The kids are all settled into school and have the routine down now. After the first week was over, I ask Janie if I could take them to school in the mornings. They still ride the bus home in the afternoons. This is working well.
Kharley had another pig show, Hank got second place in the heavy weight division, Oscar got first. Both of these pigs are part of the pig family Kharley is showing with. Rains County fair is coming up pretty soon and I look for her/him to place pretty high in the division. She has shown him now 3 times and took 2nd place 2 out of 3 not bad for the first time to ever be around a pig. She just has a flare for it I guess.
Kentlee turns 6 on Monday 9-6-11 we had Keck as her says on Friday night, and lots of kids here to swim and play. Pa cooked hot dogs for all and it was just fun. Finally about 1030 everyone left. Kentlee was exhausted, this is about 2 hours past his bedtime. He loves his sleep. Kyle is the ever ready bunny. Kharley had a pig show in gilmer the next day so she still had barn duty to go do. It was a fun night for sure.
The cows have been getting out looking for something green, Jack and Kent had found a spot behind the old pool where they thought they were getting out from, they got it fixed with the promise to check the rest of the fence come the weekend. So Kent and I get the 4 wheelers and off we go into the unknown (for me anyway) The woods are so overgrown with underbrush and vines it is hard to get to the fences. Kent said at one time you could drive the tractor down each fence line. Well not anymore! It was a tangled mess.Well I seen with my own 2 eyes this "Recovery Camp" that adjoins our property. OMG!! it was so scary. Kent and I was looking for a fence when we came up on it. I never saw the men sitting out there and I was screaming at Kent What the Hell is all of this!!!??? Kent did see the men and just kept saying This Part of the Fence is good Nen, come on! Well my 4 wheeler kept dying and if it dies in gear it is a bitch to get re started. So I was having hell trying to get thru all this brush and look at that camp and keep my ride running and when I finally got it all going again, I saw a candle just sitting on a table in the middle of that camp...That's when it dawned on me someone might be in there. So I got my shit together and started trying to catch up with Kent, by the time I got even with him it was at the opening of the wood line and cars were parked everywhere. Kent had killed his 4 wheeler waiting on me, and thats when he asked me if I seen them men. WHAT MEN??? He told me that is why he was saying the fence was fine to come on. The Good Lord looks after idiots...I then saw all those cars and started wondering about the number of people that was down in there. Scarry!!
Well we found another place where the fence is totally gone. It is on the gas pipeline that runs across the property. As we are leaving out I see this HUGE diesel tank on wheels...What the Hell is that!! Kent says I show you just keep following me. Then we come up on logging equipment and machinery like I have seen on Ax Men. We get to the big creek and cross it fine, but they have parked there equipment on the little creek and we can't get by. Aint no way I am going back the way we came, by that Mexican recovery rehab so Kent finds a way thru more brush and vines and we make it home. What a way to spend a Sunday!!
On the East side of our property we have the "Camp" now on the Southside we have loggers, West side is The Neighbors (Janie's family) only leaves the North side not invaded by anyone. Seems like our world is getting smaller.
Going to find something to do outside(on the North side) on this Labor Day 2011.
Happy Trails to all....Nenxoxoxo

Not to be different....
That's right I don't want to be any different than any other Grandmother in the world...Today all 3 of my gkids started school. OMG, i have reached that point I get to see them all in school and I am so blessed. Kharley 5th grade, Kentlee Kindergarten, and Kyle Pre-K and Head Start.
Kharley's day was much like the last few, nothing extremely exciting, just the pure pleasure of knowing Collin Funcheon was NOT in her class this year. She was so glad! She loves her homeroom teacher and Mrs. B seems to care for her a lot too.
Kentlee told his mom it was going to be a Rock and Roll day! Fell right into the routine like a pro.
So this is Kyle's first day to be seperated from Kentlee for all day. Janie was a little worried about it but Kyle made it just fine.
Janie had been explaining the ropes to Kentlee about Kyle and the bus ride, that he needed to make sure Kyle was on that bus everyday and not the let the driver leave if Kyle was not with him, Kentlee knew the plan and was preparing for the worst.
Well the worst almost happened the first day of school. Seems like the Head Start school did not get the message to PreK that Kyle would be coming over at lunch. So just because I am nosy and wanted to see the boyz in action I went over and PreK could not find Kyle. My heart sank. The lady in the office called Head Start and sure enough he was still over there. One of the aides brought him over and it was all cool after that. But I just got to thinking about Kentlee more than Kyle, what would he of done if he got on that bus and Kyle wasn't there? Not sure exactly how the conversation would have gone but it would of been worth hearing.
They may fight like brothers but Janie has always told them no matter you take up for each other. I can just see Kentlee getting in that bus drivers face over Kyle, had he not been on that bus. Makes me laugh thinking about the woulda shoulda coulda scenerio. Happy first day of School 2011 to my gkids!!
Well Kent has been on 12 hr days and today he got home early to hear the school stories and Jack was here waiting on him to fix fence, fix a tractor tire, and feed. I will make no comment about this at this time. Other than supper is cold.
Had a wonderful practice this weekend at Deb's house for the homecoming routine the Rainettes will be performing. It is going to be a blast. If you get a chance come to the game on Sept 23 and watch a bunch of old women having the time of there youth!! you need to join us too.
Lots of seniors experienced the first of the last today. My prayer is they all make it to graduation safe and sound. Keeping them and the families in my heart and prayers.
Love to all and to all a good nite. Nen xoxo

Hot August Nights/Days/Hours/Minuets
Another hot one, the sconce of rain we got just seemed to make it hotter. So what else to write about: it will get cooler when it gets cooler.
I went to a funeral today. It was the first person that hired me right out of high school. Sweet Sweet woman. Very little family showed up. Only one son of her is left and her grandchildren. I didn't know much about her sons and daughter, just that she had 3 children and 1 son and the daughter have been gone for some time and the only son left lived in Florida.
She had many nephews and neices but only 1 showed up. It was just kinda sad that the ones that lived so close to her didn't love her enough to come to her funeral. My sweet friend (an in law to the deceased) read the euology and a beautiful poem and a grandson said a prayer at the grave site. In reality I guess that's enough, but it just made me sad. :(
Kent and I come home to help tackle Janie's yard. She has been purging, as they say, and putting it all outside to be picked up carried off or hope it would blow away, well none of that happened so we got a dumpster. After 2 hours in the afternoon sun the dumpster is full and we were exhausted. It was good the kids were gone this weekend, cause I got a feeling Janie might of slipped in a favorite broken toy or twelve!
WE rested and then went for ice cream, and drove around both lakes. Wow I wonder how they get the boats in the water. It all looks so low. The ramps just end and no water for the boats to go into. Several boats out there, we just couldn't figure out what ramp they used.
The Rainettes will perform at homecoming this year and the practices have been exciting, to say the least. The girls from the 70's are a little old to do the moves of the 80's so the excitment begins. It is challenging to fit in the moves, but I think we have a routine and all we need to do is practice and make appts with the chiropractor!
Well if you hit the wrong button to correct something it just post the blog for you. Just wish I knew what button I pushed.
The tractor is home, I know everyone missed it as much as I did. I guess you can say this is my inheritance from my grandpa. His tractor. Kent has been using it for some time and has been able to fix most of the things that have gone wrong, but 2 things he aint good at. Hydrolics and porche valve (?) something to do with the stirring. Anyway Rog and Gary Lynn to the rescue, they took excellant care of it and brought it back in great shape. I was glad. Right now Kent is shredding dead grass and locust bushes with it.
Okay the funny for last week:
My 3K's have been home all summer. To hot to play outside so coop up in the house all day. Weather gets cooler ( a little ) in the evening and they all go out and make a playhouse in the yard. Scrap everything used to make a total household.
I drive by and Kyle (the youngest you know Not Marbin, but Tile) is playing, he stops me and proceeds to give me the tour. Dis the libbing womb, my baroom, and da kishin. (living room has 2 litttle tike chairs and micro phone cord which represents the phone) (bedroom has a towel on the ground) (kitchen has a step stool with 2 glasses on it) Do you really need any more than that???
Need to ck on Kent and my tractor,
Carla, be sure and Thank Dylon for me and Congrats to you! lots of love
Pam, glad you finished another work week. Tell DCC I love them.
Nettie, thanks for the shirts and tongs your the best.

Little boys stink!
Today was my first day back to work! I love being needed. I worked so hard and was totally exhausted when I got home and took a nap. Kent is on 12 hour shift for a while so I took advantage of the home alone time. I hope I can finish the enrollment packets tomorrow and then have Wed. to get ready for Thur and Fri, that is enrollment days for the new kids!!
The Rainette reunion has been fun fun. We have music and a routine, just gotta practice practice. Looking forward to homecoming this year. Also hoping the Alumni takes off and this is the year that we Rains Alumni finally makes an impact on the community.
Sunday, Kent and I cleaned our bedroom. Sounds strange huh? Dust was so thick on all the furniture you could write a letter to Merry Maids on it. I had a scare, or I was asked if some friends of ours could use the house on Saturday for a wedding, I got in a panic and called in reinforcements. Courtney!!!! to the rescue, she said she could come on Friday, great!!!!!! Then I got a message the wedding had been postpone. Well Bummer! I was so excited X's 2. 1 the first time the house was going to be cleaned all summer and 2 wedding at our house (honor to me that anyone would want to use our house).....then cancel :(
Why have the house cleaned if no one is going to see it right? So I called Courtney back and cancelled her, but that meant our bedroom still was going to have 6 inches of dust in there. So Sunday Kent said he would help. My philosiphy on dusting is if I can't see it then it is clean enough. Kent is probably a foot and a half taller than me and see's all! So he hit the high stuff and I got the low. I think I sleep better in a clean room. I will have to keep that in mind next time I can't sleep. Make Kent dust the top of the wardrobe, so I can sleep better. During the great clean up I found my birth certificate! That would of been handy when I was trying to get that passport. Now I know where it is so in case I have to prove to someone something I have it.
Friday my BFF took me out for my birfday!! woop woop! I was 39 for the 14th time, we had the best time and I didn't want the day to end. We cured all the ills of the world. Half of which we invented, but nevertheless!
I was FB'ing when the kids came in screaming "We're staying which you nite Nen! K? Janie immediatley went to the bathroom and started getting the baths ready. OMG!! Kentlee smelled like a dead mule! Rotten pure stink out of the hot west smell I have ever experienced. Kyle came over and he was just as bad...Then Kharley was walking on one foot and said I am taking my bath first I got pig poo on me.....I screamed at her and said share the shower with Kentlee I think I will puke if he don't give me some relief...Janie starts in Yep Kentlee you need to go first. Kyle be last. So after all the baths were done, Kentlee came running up to me and said smell me now... Ahhhh so much better!
gonna be a fun night, I lay in my bed when they are all here and listen to them do the night talk and prayers and then I say mine.
Thank you Lord for this family, and to all a good nite. xoxoxox Nen
